Thank you for the clarification jelv. As you surmised I did not get what Jane was saying.

Census indexing by year
I suspect this is a question that has been answered but I couldn't find an answer. I was looking for the existence of a census event of a particular year but the year is the value of a variable and that apparently does not work. An example: pi=fhNewItemPtr() picen=fhNewItemPtr() pi:MoveToRecordById(...

Since you know the people perhaps you could try to find them using an electoral roll search and get back in touch.

Re: Adding media changes in v7.0.17
Thank you Lorna, that is exactly what I do and I am not claiming it is the best approach but it would be very time consuming for me to unravel it if I had to. If the filename, or media title, has to be the same before FH 7 regards it as a duplicate then my method will not be affected.

Adding media changes in v7.0.17
From the changes list If you add a picture or other media item into a project, Family Historian will now check for duplicates, skip unnecessary file copies, and avoid creating a new Media record if there is already a Media record for the item in question. I habitually make multiple copies of census ...

I hope that if you do find obvious transcription errors that you will report them to FindMyPast. I have reported a number of transcription errors and it only takes a minute or so to fill in the online form and they will respond. First an automatic acknowledgement and then after a time an email stati...

Re: Second screen display problem
It may not be helpful, given your comment about drivers, but I had much the same problem some years ago using monitors of different resolutions, https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=14147, and that problem followed an automatic display driver update by Windows 10. The solution was ...

Re: Google Drive for FH Backups and Projects
Just a thought. Is it possible that the Trash folder on Google Drive contains the extra 7+Gb? If you go to the Google Drive online and select Trash, then use the dropdown beside the Trash title to empty the trash. It will not show immediately what space has been released and for that you need to ref...

Given that the aim is very specific, the restoration of old black and white photographs, it is probably worth looking for specialised software. The following link https://windowsreport.com/old-photo-res ... -software/ might be worth a look.

Hidden attribute causing a save problem?
This more of a 'why' question, than a 'solve it' question. Recently I was trying to tidy up my home made plugins. I opened one for editing made the changes and then got this message "A problem occurred. Task may not have completed correctly". However, FH was happy to save the plugin with a...

Re: Disc drive for installation
A bit off topic, but an alternative solution to a wider problem. If you have a load of installation CDs, as I did, and a new laptop with no CD drive can I suggest the purchase of an external USB connected DVD/CD drive. I paid £15.99 for mine and problem solved.

An observation (not a recomendation as I haven't used it) but Windows 10 has a built-in facility to create a system image. Full instructions here:

A quick rummage around Family Search leads me to think we are talking of Selina Neville, If not then the rest of this post is irrelevant. I stand corrected. I read highlighted to mean the background colour change (i.e. selection) and frankly I had not noticed the box boundary being highlighted.

Re: Change Focus window to that shown in property box
The problem is compounded by the fact that the individual is highlighted in the focus window, leaving one to mistakenly think that the individual is also the focus of the property box. This is evidenced by the number of people commenting that they have mistakenly added facts to the wrong person! So...

Re: Change Focus window to that shown in property box
Mike I am sure that is correct, FH could sync, bringing the property box individual into focus, but this would remove the distinction in the focus window between selecting an individual and bringing that individual into focus. I frequently select one of the children in a family for a quick look at t...

Re: Change Focus window to that shown in property box
Tatewise's comment The Go Back and Go Forward and cog Recent list can involve ANY type of record, not just Individual records, so in the general case such records cannot be shown in the Focus Window. to my mind indicates why linking the property box to the focus window is not possible. I take the po...

Ron This is the plugin I use to update the families child count. It does not take account of the relationship status of the children. I don't calculate for individuals but a simple replacement of 'FAM' by 'INDI' should do the job. Then you can read the count from the NCHI tag pf=fhNewItemPtr() pfc=fh...
