Hi Some people have private trees because they are experimenting with "quick and dirty trees" to find where ancestors fit into different families (often to do with DNA matches). These trees are not necessarily accurate and so they do not want other people to see them. If thats the case why post the...

Re: Census icons not showing on diagrams

Thanks for that. While on the subject I'll ask as question I think I know the answer to. Its possible if I use an icon for all 8 census, birth, marriage, death an baptism the icons could run to 2 lines underneath the individuals box. Is it possible to have an icon in the persons box(e.g an i) so that i...

linking individual to family

I have traced my great(x3) grandparents (Thomas and Ellen) back to the 1841 census. All of which I have entered using AS. In the 1851 census they have a son (George) aged 12.In the 1841 census he would be 2, but I cannot find him with his parents. However after further research I have found him living...

This also applies to godparents (Baptism) if I mark them as not in file and subsequently add them to the file how do I associate them...

Viewing saved images

I have a problem which is not serious but just niggling me. All my images for various certificates are saved as jpeg files, and when viewed on pc appear horizontal. However when I link some of them to a file in AS they appear rotated through 90 degrees. Generally anti-clockwise. Even when i try to ro...

Re: Census entry if away from home

I agree with Mike. I also enter the census for the individual exactly as it shows on the census form. If I feel that I need to, I enter a note on the individual's census record pointing to the information for the census record of the family of that person. Sometimes I also add a note to the census ...

I have a relative (a grandfather when he was a young child) who is a visitor to a family who are no relation to him. Rest of family are at home address. Would I enter this as though the relative was at home and put ...

Edit/delete stored place names.

Made a basic mistake in the marriage entry. I put a wrong spelling of a place name and unfortunately saved it.Now when I start typing a place name this wrong spelling keeps appearing. Is there a way to delete this from the saved place names?

Thanks
