I asked a question along these lines some time ago - see Customising diagram end of branch siblings (13391).
Perhaps that will help in the meantime?

Forcing the next source onto next page?
I'm hoping there's an easy fix for this one, but can't find it... I'm adding media to sources, and generating a descendant report. When the image is too large to fit onto a page (because there's already content at the top of the page) the image drops onto the next page - fair enough. But is it possi...

Re: Diagrams - text alignment
Birth certificates: I cite the source in the name field and birth field for the individual who was born. The father (and mother, where named) get the same source cited in their name fields. I do the same for the name field and death field for death certificates, and similar for marriage certificates...

Re: Diagrams - text alignment
No, for anything I find (including census documents), I create a separate source, and then add a citation to the relevant fields. I daresay it's not normal practice, but it works for me, and it would be too much work to change thousands of previous entries. I'll report the looping index issue to CP ...

Re: Diagrams - text alignment
Thanks Mike, I didn't know of that new FH7 function - very neat. I don't use Ancestral Sources, and just add my own generic sources for each document I come across. I distinguish between types of source by looking at the title. So, as far as I understand it, what I'm doing now is the only way to go....

Re: Diagrams - text alignment
Thanks Mike - that's worked a treat. First time I've ever tried that process, but all is good.
Many thanks to both Mikes for the suggestions

Diagrams - text alignment
My laptop recently started misbehaving - the first sign of it was the printer driver being 'generic/text only' which caused issues with printing, but at the same time FH7 diagrams also went wrong. I've downloaded and installed the latest Windows 11 update, which has sorted the printer driver issue n...

Search & Return plugin - error?
Good afternoon, Some time ago I invented a new fact called 'Byname' to contain family nicknames and the like. One of the many families I'm tracking used the byname 'Cocair'. I think I have the same 1700s ancestor as the progenitor of a number of lines, and would obviously like to merge these lines. ...

Re: Fact definitions & unwanted carriage returns
Thanks Mike - have reported it as you suggest...I simply pointed them to this thread so they should see the comment below as well. I've also replaced {note} with {%FACT.NOTE2%} and now have this, which is an improvement, although there still seems to be a leading space before "in November 1850&...

Fact definitions & unwanted carriage returns
Hi. I'm trying to tidy up some of my hastily constructed facts from a few years ago, and have hit a snag that I can't get to the bottom of. fh_query.png As you can see the Sentence is picking up all of the elements but leaving carriage returns in strange places, highlighted by the red blocks. Also t...

Thanks to you both - I've got a very clear memory of the thread, but no matter...if I ever find it again I'll remember to bookmark it next time!
Fair enough - the comma probably isn't needed!

Finding an old thread...
I know there's a thread on here somewhere about text schemes and the awkward comma between the date and the place of, say, birth. The comma being awkward because it's not needed if there's no date, and if there's no place it's also not needed, but it is needed when both are present. Can someone poin...

Re: Diagram Text Scheme - strange behaviour
It's a custom event, originally set up like that so that I'd remember the format I wanted to use - very clunky I know. I didn't realise there was a limit to the number of characters. By hook or by crook I have got it sorted now - apologies for wasting your time. Edit: I didn't refresh this tab befor...

Diagram Text Scheme - strange behaviour
Good afternoon, I have this as part of a textscheme: %INDI.EVEN-A_TENANT_IE_SWORDALE_TENANT_COMMA_1796.NOTE2% It works just as I wish - but if I close FH7 and re-open it, the % signs have disappeared and I just get the ugly text: INDI.EVEN-A_TENANT_IE_SWORDALE_TENANT_COMMA_1796.NOTE2 in each box in ...

Re: how to prodece a specific relationship to selected individuals
It sounds to me as though you need to use the Tools - How Related feature, although you'll need to run it once for every pairing of people you want to consider. I generally find that the graphical option is easiest to follow, particularly if you turn off the 'spouses and siblings' option. I don't fi...

Ancestor Reports - customised to follow male line
Good afternoon, Is it possible to customise an Ancestor Report so that it only follows the male line? The main reason for wanting this is to be able to give a fellow-researcher all the documentation relating to the male line, without becoming distracted by the many other couples going back 6 generat...
