Re: In a top down diagram, after two levels, I want to stack the children rather than side by side

I don't think this is quite what you want, but it may provide some ideas: http://imwe.co.uk/temp/temp.png Most of these lines of text you can see can be toggled on and off by means of a flag which controls the relevant expression. I can tell you more if you wish, although virtually all of the ideas ...

Re: Expression searching within INDI.NAME.SOUR and INDI.FAMS>MARR.SOUR

... Unfortunately, the looping index [1+] used in Diagram Text Schemes does not work here. (I have asked Calico Pie for it to work everywhere). So it requires a more complex Expression that tests each instance in turn. i.e. =IsTrue( ContainsText(%INDI.NAME.SOUR[1]>TITL%,"Census 1841",STD) or Contai...

Re: Box conditions - Backup and Restore?

Thanks Mike.
And I thought I'd understood :(
Will try that when I get back to my desktop... currently sitting in a hot car whilst my daughter sees her best friend for the first time in 10 weeks!

Box conditions - Backup and Restore?

I've managed to get my text schemes shared between my desktop and laptop by using the Backup and Restore plugin. How do I achieve the same result for my icons controlled by expressions within the Boxes tab of the Diagram Options window? At the moment none of the Conditions (constructed on my desktop...

Re: bulk unlink children

Hi, I'm not sure this will do what you want, but this is what I'd do... Go through each of the 18 children and prefix each surname with an unlikely letter. Perhaps 'q' for one group who are actual siblings, 'z' for another group. Having done that, right-click on each one in turn to unlink the record...

Thank you, Mike - I've now had time to try your second suggestion and it works beautifully.
I find myself wondering what wondrous things FH7 will be capable of!

Thanks again,

Family Fact sets

Hi, I have four facts which are used to define: (b) where an individual was brought up, (m) where they married to, (a) where an unmarried adult lived, and (w) where a widowed person lived. The (m) fact is the only family fact among these; they are used to produce this type of output: temp.png The is...

Have checked the names and labels and, no, they don't match up:

I've had the first two for a few years now and have only recently added numbers 3 & 4...I also wasn't happy with the descriptions I'd used and so adapted the labels to something more accurate.

Re: Fast-add menu

I've now had time to consider this further - I've set all the time frames to Life ....and the order hasn't changed. It's not a huge issue - but my sense of order is offended! If anyone can think of a simple answer then that would be great, but it's not something to spend a lot of time on. Thanks for...

It's fairly easy to get it set up...right-click on a column header, then choose 'configure columns', and away you go!

Fast-add menu

Hi,

Is it possible to organise the items in the Fast-add menu (for Facts) into an order which I prefer?
At the moment mine looks like this:

I'd like to order items 1Residence, 2Residence, 3Residence, 4Residence for starters.

Many thanks,

Re: How do you include DNA results

I'm just starting out - I've done a Y111 test for myself in the hope of linking in to the landed gentry Cummings of Moray - I'm sure the link exists. I've also had a test done on a Macleod cousin from Lewis as I'm doing some in-depth research there - there are 6 significant families who I believe ar...

Re: How do you include DNA results

For the time being I've put them in double square brackets in a simple note:
[[111 marker Y-DNA results DYS393: 13, DYS390: 24,...............]]

I don't know that that's particularly 'good' but it means I've got them stored, but they'll never appear in a report or webpage.

Re: Links on FH6-generated website

Many thanks, Mike - that's got me sorted out!
For what it's worth, the URL is in the note of the custom fact.

Now that it's working it's worth my while to go through my whole file carefully, putting in all the links - quite a job but hopefully worthwhile in the long term :)

Kind regards,

Automatic setting of 'Private' flag

My flags have become somewhat untidy over time, and I'm finally moving over to using expressions for all of my icons. Is it possible to identify, probably by way of a query, all those people who might still be alive and then assign the 'Private' flag to them? I do understand the distinction between ...
