Re: Ancestral Sources vs 7

Success, my display resolution is 1920 x 1080. I found that - Change the size of text, apps and other items - was set to 175%. I had to sign out to change it. When I signed in again, it was set to 125%. I left it at that and launched Ancestral Sources again; it worked perfectly. Thank you so much fo...

Re: Ancestral Sources vs 7

I'm using Windows 10 on a relatively new computer - yes a supported version. I'm using Family Historian vs 6 - not yet updated to the latest version.

Ancestral Sources vs 7

I'm trying to enter a Census record using Method 2 as I have always done. When I enter the individual, I normally see people related to him below plus a button to add more children. This is not happening. I uninstalled vs 7 and installed the older version and it worked perfectly. Then I installed vs...

Correcting Relationship to Root

I sent an email to the mailing list concerning this and then remembered it doesn't work any more - am I correct? I have a problem with an incorrect relationship. My grandmother's sister died so my grandparents brought up her child, Margaret Hurst. When I first entered Margaret Hurst on my database, ...

Re: One Drive and Family Historian

If you have added Media to your Project then you most definitely will have Media record File Links . However, if you added those Media files to the Project internal Media folder, then those File Links should migrate from PC to PC without any problems. Have you added Icons to Diagram boxes, or inser...

Re: One Drive and Family Historian

The 3rd paragraph is a brief summary of the issues of migrating FH Projects from PC to PC . They are in addition to whatever method is used to transfer all the files themselves. The files can be transferred on a USB memory stick or by synchronising with OneDrive . But all the FH Project files must ...

Re: One Drive and Family Historian

There are a few myths and misunderstanding in this thread. OneDrive risks see fhugdownloads:contents:microsoft_skydrive|> Utility ~ Microsoft OneDrive (SkyDrive) . Files are encrypted in transit, but not in the Microsoft servers. However, the privacy risks are minimal. Some risks such as fire &...

Re: One Drive and Family Historian

(Just speculating here.) Going back to the opening post, my impression is that your project is stored in the local copy of OneDrive. If that is the case then your project folder is local, with a synchronised online copy, and all folder and file references in your project refer to the local copy. Wh...

Re: One Drive and Family Historian

You sent to the FHU list with a different email to the one you are signed up with, so your mail was blocked. If you want to bring a project down to another computer you need to bring down the WHOLE Project folder not just the project file. In Dropbox you can easily do that, but I don't use One Driv...

Re: One Drive and Family Historian

All of my backups go to 3 external hard drives. My working copy of my Project file resides on my computer’s hard drive, and, gets backed up to my external hard drives on a nearly daily basis. I would never trust an Internet storage site for keeping my working copy of my FH project file, or, as a ba...

One Drive and Family Historian

I emailed this problem to the User group, but now we no longer get a Newsletter, I didn't receive any response. Can anyone help me please. I store my FH projects in OneDrive. Usually to open a project I open FH and then select the project I want to open from the Project window. Today I was at someon...

Ability to add a caption to other media.

I have a large number of letters, charts etc in Word and pdf format. When I add these to an individual's media and add a caption, it doesn't show. So I'm left with a number of pdf and Word thumbnails with no caption. I can click on each and look in the box above for the title, but I would find it ve...

Thank you so much to all of you for your help. I really didn't think it was possible but, as usual, FH comes up trumps. I have copied and pasted the information you have given me so I have it to hand for next time I'm stuck. I have also tried to edit my profile and hope I got it right. So very grate...

Re: V6 Dates Column

Mike, what would I put if I didn't want the birth and death dates estimated from other events? I tried to fix the problem myself using the Data Reference Assistant, but couldn't manage to put in valid data. I went to Events - Birth - Date - Abbrev4 and put that in then "-" and then did the...

V6 Dates Column

Can anyone please tell me how to change the date format in the date column in the records window. It's now in the format of c. 1910- I would like to get rid of the c. and just show 1910- My reason is that the c. causes the dates to line up incorrectly making it more difficult to glance down the dates.

Research Notes

Love Family Historian and would never return to Legacy, but do miss the section for Research Notes. Is it possible for FH to include this as an extra tab on the Notes? I do record my research notes with my Notes, but to have them separated would be ideal.

Yes, thank you, I use the marriage box status options quite often, but you have to have a marriage recorded before it comes into play. In my case I wanted to record that the person had never married as opposed to maybe married but spouse unknown.

Thank you. I wasn't aware of those two facts. However, what I was looking for was some way of showing it on the Main tab of the Property box, so I could see it at a glance.
