Re: Linking a fact to an html file

You can try doing a right click and see what the menu shows. If the list includes taking a screen shot use the curor to cover the area of the shot you want then prompt copy and open it on a photo software. I do this all the time including FreeBMD details on ancestry and post the image as a media fil...

Re: Connect two people

The reason I put (Baker) is simply because she married a Smith and this would separate the two children assuming they both have different fathers. When more details are available then changes can be made

Re: Connect two people

Leaving the surname blank won't help much as there could be many other blank surnames. Whether Sue had been married or not but the surname with brackets (Baker) that way you will find her if you find she had been married and know her maiden name or if Mary was found to be illegimate just remove the ...

Re: Connect two people

I would describe the children as half siblings. Mary Baker could be the illegimate child of Sue. If that be the case then Sue's maiden name will be Baker. A birth certificate for Mary or her baprism details will see is Sue had been married before or if she is illegitimate

Re: Importing media from a PC

I prefer the displays to be shown vertically because when I do a narrative report and print it the images will cover a page and will be readable. If these are printed horizontally they are squeezed to fit the width of the page. If I want to view the image on my computer I just open them on my softwa...

I too am an admin on rootsweb and recived the message about it ending. To be honest I had completely forgotten about my rootsweb group. That was simply because no messages were posted to it for years. I don't think anyone who was on it wouldn't miss it

Any children you have will be directly related toyour husbands ancestors. Do you want to deny them from knowing who they are?

Once you have done a Project back up and if you had some previous back ups do delete the old ones you don't need as they take up space on your hard drive.

Re: Living "over the brush!"

My great grandmother had an illegitimate child (my grandfather) he was baptised with his mother's maiden name. On my tree I left his father's name out. That is is mother is the only name listed and the normal spuses name is blank. His mother later married Charles Markham and they had children. This ...

If you ever back up FH Projects on your PC do delete the old versions otherwise your hard drive will soon be full.
Backing up does not automatically replace the previous back ups

Re: File organisation in Windows

Forget what I said about FH files. I only mention that under that as particular subject. FH is just one folder. I have a whole list of other bolders under different subjects and these are divided into sub folders, similar to what i have done in my FH folder. By doing this I know where things are and...

Maybe I misunderstood the topic. One asked how they organise files and I was simply stating how I organie files and made special pointes when it came to FH Project. When it comes to surnames I have one file for each surname so I know where the details are. Thatis details of the person I have added t...

Re: PDF report with blank page 1

If you save the file in RTF format you can open the file and save it in any format you choose. A drop down list appears for you to pick in Word.
Once you have done that you can edit it, which you can't do in PDF (depends on where you get this from).

I will ask the great grandson of the woman in question. He was the one who sent me details of her naturalisation application.

I am talking about an English woman who married a German in King's Lynn in 1885. Once she married him she became a German even though she never lived in Germany. Sorry my error I originally wrote naturalisation but then changed it. Just thought I would mention this to make others aware of such a marriage making the 'home' person the nationality of the immigrant. Come to think of it, if the wife was German she then have become English after marrying her Engli...
