Re: Residence at the time of marriage.

I did a short video on using Ancestral Sources on YouTube. The quality isn't the best but you should be able to understand what is going on.

Re: Residence at the time of marriage.

Paula

As Mike mentioned in his original post get Ancestral Sources, it is the easiest way to add all the information (people, locations, image of the document etc) to BMD and Census facts. Ancestral Sources is free and it will do everything and put it properly in the right places in Family Historian.

I suspect that Codeweavers are the only ones who can answer why they are using v3.14

Re: On linux, Drag and Drop media to source crashes FH6.2

I run Crossover v18 on my Mac and drag and drop works fine. Bearing in mind that Crossover is Wine in a nice wrapper it should be possible unless there is something significantly different in Linux to MacOS bearing in mind they both are a similar os.

You are a lot further along than me. I am hoping to get some time next week to explore LUA and I will take a look and see if it something that I can do if not I will let you know. I agree with your thoughts they are the same as what I thought.

I can wait there is no rush. I have to do one urgently for a relative so will do that manually and after that no desperate rush.

I may even have a look at doing this as a plugin myself. I have no experience of LUA all my dev experience is website so html, css and php.

Easy military facts entry?

I have recently come across a whole bunch of military records. Entering the detail fact by fact is pretty tedious to say the least. (I do have the military fact set installed). Does anyone have a strategy (Ancestral Sources for Military would be great) for the entering of all the detail in a multi p...

Surname query

I have a custom query that gives me the surnames of everyone in my file. However, needless to say there are many rows in the result set that are identical is there any way to 'group by' in the query so that I only have one row per surname? I have been doing this in Excel up till now but it would be ...

Re: Structuring your project

Petere There are two schools of thought as you describe. The thing you need to consider is the manageability of multiple projects and how you handle marriages between surnames. With separate projects for each surname you will potentially be doubling your input having to enter people twice in two pro...

Export only relevant media

I know that I should know how to do this but I can't remember or find anything in the KB or a search on the forum. A distant relative would like her part of my large tree, it is only 41 individuals that I have that are relevant to her. Using the export option it creates the gedcom fine but wh...

Crossover for Mac v18 is currently in beta testing. I have tried it out on my Air and it runs FH and AS fine just as it did before and seems a bit faster than v17. Just for info.

Re: Website created with FH software - can I include that in a WYSIWYG Website software programme

Yes that will definitely work. You will just need the links to the three trees from your main site. As to look and feel you can adjust that with settings in the CSS file if necessary. I think that you may have something a little bit wrong still. Hitting home on that page takes you to http://shrubsol...

Re: Website created with FH software - can I include that in a WYSIWYG Website software programme

Download the free Filezilla ftp programme. Add your website ftp login credentials to it and you can then connect to your webhost. You can certainly then upload your FH produced website to you webhost using this ftp programme. However, there are a couple of things to consider 1: Your existing site wi...

Jane

It may be easier just to use one of the bulk jpg resizing programmes rather than writing a plugin. You could just do a resize on the export media folder keeping the same file names and locations.
