Re: Using FH Family Trees on Independent Website
It may be worth looking at an alternative such as the SVG Family Tree Generator. This will import your gedcom and produce a tree in either HTML or SVG format for displaying on your website. There is an article on the Knowledgebase about this SVG Family-Tree Generator

Re: A Tale of Two Laptops, FH v6 & v7, & Crossover!
Yes that is correct if you uninstall one it can be re-used elsewhere. I took the inferece from the above that you could have 2 installs on one machine and because the Mac address was the same then they would be regarded by CP licence validation as one device. This is not the case they are regarded a...

Re: Make the installation of the pdf driver optional
As far as installation on PlayOnMac (POM) is concerned, I suspect that it locks up during/after the installation of NovaPDF and can't recover because the 'Windows Virtual Printer' can't be created. If you 'force quit' POM after lock up and then relaunch it you would probably find the everything has...

Re: A Tale of Two Laptops, FH v6 & v7, & Crossover!
Thanks Mervyn, that’s a useful clarification. Presumably the same applies to Wine under Linux? Somebody who has a spare second licence and wants to play with an emulator might be more inclined to go ahead if the host PC is effectively invisible. Mark This is not the case; during the beta testing, I...

Re: FH v7 and windows emulators WARNING
With the release of v7.0.3 of Family Historian the major issue with running FH on Crossover has been resolved in that reports now display correctly on the screen. I have successfully installed it on a Mac running Mojave and Crossover V20.04 in a 64bit Windows 7 bottle. I have yet to confirm that AS ...

[Wish List ref 570] Make the installation of the pdf driver optional
The inclusion of the Nova PDF driver is now unnecessary as Windows 10 includes a pdf printer driver. It also prevents users installing FH v7 in PlayOnMac.
It would therefore be beneficial to both Windows and Mac users to make the option of this driver optional.

Mike Given what you said I deleted the existing project and created a new one. This time the project imported and displayed the surnames correctly between slashes. Your plugin also runs and works fine :D Screenshot 2021-03-14 at 18.57.27.png Thanks this plugin is an excellent addition to the FH tool...

Re: Import gedcom with photos from online url
Mike the media has not been imported into FH that is the issue.
The gedcom spec says that the Record ID can be constructed of any characters up to 22 characters long. I have come across some really weird ones with people sending me examples for testing against my Wordpress plugin.

Re: Import gedcom with photos from online url
Mike I didn't do anything I just used the standard Gedcom import option to pull this gedcom into a new project where I could look at everything before combining the two projects. The gedcom snippet I provided was from the gedcom I was sent not from the FH one I will check that and attach it. This is...

@Mike
I just tried your plugin. Unfortunately it doesn't work on the file that caused me to raise this issue in the first place it will not go to an open website url to grab the images.

Re: Problems Running FH V6 with Crossover on Mac
Irene I don't use iCloud to backup my files. I do it two ways. I rely on Timemachine on a day to day basis. On a Friday I have an auto copy to an external hard drive and to my NAS drive using FreeFileSync. The FH folders on my NAS drive are synced with my Google Drive (far cheaper than iCloud for ex...

Re: Problems Running FH V6 with Crossover on Mac
I think I may have a solution. Irene Remove the Morrison project from your iCloud sync. Looking through the documentation it appears that somehow this file is being saved to iCloud and deleted from local storage. The next time access is requested it has to be downloaded from iCloud. That may well be...

Re: Problems Running FH V6 with Crossover on Mac
Looking at the old thread this could be the issue
This indicates that the file/folder is 'in the cloud' and needs downloading.
I would like to see a current screenshot of the appropriate folder in the Mac Finder not in the Crossover file manager.

In finder go to Documents/Family Historian Projects/Morrison.fh_data and see if the Morrison.ged file is there.
Report back on what you find as then we may well be able to help.

Re: Web site layout
You need to understand how CSS works which from what you have said you may not understand the nuances. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. What that means is that they are processed in order. If the CSS in your new files is not being honoured it means that the styles are coming from some other fi...

Re: Problems Running FH V6 with Crossover on Mac
Irene I think that you may well end up deleting your project files if you delete Crossover. It will depend on where you stored your project files. If you used the standard My Documents folder then that is mapped to the Mac Documents folder so check to see if your project files and backups are stored...

I was one of the beta testers for v7 and the above setup worked fine. Due to the issues with tables and reports in Crossover I have remained ...

Re: Import gedcom with photos from online url
Colin, it is a fairly common requirement. Users regularly ask why media does not import from online family trees. However, it is unusual that no login credentials are needed. Your supplier must have a completely public website. Perhaps you could report the problem to Calico Pie and see what they sa...

Re: Import gedcom with photos from online url
The gedcom I was sent had links to the website of the supplier of the gedcom so no login or credentials were required BUT it was an https:// url.
