Re: Custom Query re Missing Census years

They are on the link Mike posted.

Download and extract from the zip file.

Then File > Import > Query and select them. They imported and ran fine for me.

Re: Custom Query re Missing Census years

This will be a 2 stage process BUT will be easier than the marker pen. Run the query and then export the result as a CSV file. Load that CSV file into Excel (or other equivalent) and then use its functions to hide the rows that are complete. You could automate this using my query and then using Exce...

Re: Wordpress Gedcom plugin

This plugin is now available in the Wordpress repository at https://wordpress.org/plugins/gedshow/. It is fairly basic at the moment but now it is available from WP I can get on and add additional functionality. The way it works is that it displays all the surnames in the file, you then click to sel...

Wordpress Gedcom plugin

I know some members here use Wordpress for their personal sites. I have developed a small Wordpress plugin that takes a Family Historian Gedcom and displays names and some facts on page. I have done some testing of it and it works fine for me and a friend has Reunion on a Mac and its gedcom's threw ...

Re: Trouble installing on Crossover

Karen

Have you read the Knowledge Base article I wrote about installing on Crossover?

If not then take a look at Knowledge Base > Family Historian V6 & Ancestral Sources V5 on Crossover, PlayOnLinux/Mac & Wine.

Re: GEDCOM 5.5.1

For information

Reunion 11 only exports Gedcom 4.0, Gedcom 5.5 or Ancestry.com

Ancestral Quest only exports Gedcom 4.0 and Gedcom 5.5

MacFamilyTree & Heredis just say Gedcom export without giving a version.

Re: Birth, Marriage and Death information

Paula There is a slightly cheaper alternative as pdf copies of BMD certificates are now available from the GRO . The question is more about how to research as much as do I need to buy I suspect. There are some records on FamilySearch that will help with research and all of them are free to access. R...

Re: Research Planner Technical Nuts & Bolts

@Mike This is a bit unusual as I am running this on my iMac which is running a VM with a full copy of Windows 7 . I have Avast running on it along with Firefox as the browser so it could be a combination of things. However, I have no problem accessing other https sites from Firefox in the VM .

Re: Restore autosave?

It definitely looks like Autosave is not working in this latest version of Crossover . Emulator compatibility is turned on. It looks like this version of Crossover has re-introduced some of the old problems with locking up FH when AS updates the Gedcom. Also if the edit date dialog pops up because a...

Re: Restore autosave?

Mike & Jane

Thanks for the replies.

There was a snapshot of yesterday but unfortunately it didn't help.

It looks like Autosave is not working in Crossover. I need to do some more testing and will update the KB if I confirm that this is the case.

Restore autosave?

I have autosave turned on. I was doing some work on my laptop for my daughter in law and unfortunately FH crashed (Crossover on Mac) and on restarting FH I have lost a couple of hours work. I checked the project folder and can't find any files dated today. Where is the autosave stored? I looked in t...

Mike No it still won't download the help file for me. But the good news is that I can create a task without getting the error message...

Re: Research Planner Technical Nuts & Bolts

My preference would be to have the close optional in a preferences option if possible. If not then I agree it should not close automatically. Nothing more frustrating than to keep re-opening an app to repeat a job.

I downloaded the latest version. Deleted the old version and then imported the new one. I ran the plugin, created a task and then when the plugin switched back to FH I got this error:

I do it slightly differently from @Mike in that I put the married surname in Square Brackets between the slashes if I don't know the maiden name. Like /[Smith]/

Thanks for that link it resolved it.

I did download it from the link you sent rather than from the KB so that was the problem there.

Thanks now to play with the plugin.

Re: Another approach to planning and tracking research

The naming was as you suspected. I removed the underscore and added the Capital and the button is no longer greyed out.

However, there is still a problem with the help file, only The contents are showing no detail. See below

Unfortunately still no prize. :( It comes up with an error of being unable to download the help file. I manually downloaded it and put it in place.
