Re: Finding the County for a list of Towns
Thanks both. Yes, I had considered those points but thought that I could deal with exceptions manually, as it would be, hopefully, a much shorter list. There are dates in the rows which would make it possible to choose the right County list if, there were documented changes over time, but adding th...

Re: Birth certificate not found at GRO England
The only Elizabeth Louise Brown I can find with that Vol no and page No is one born in 1877 in the Mile End Registration District. Doing a search on GRO site Elizabeth Louisa Brown doesn't show, but by looking at other people who are on page 570, have found a possible indexing problem. GRO has a Eli...

Re: Duplicate old and new Marriage Registers
Having looked at the Registers, and when they start/finish etc.
Suspect is nothing more than the incumbent Vicar deciding to use up the old Register, as well as the new one.
As when the double recording stops seems to be when the Vicar changes.

Assuming I had found the right Robert Brent who died 1872 in Woodbury, Devon, then check out the Newspaper reports regarding his death & Funeral. He is given as Lieut-Col Commandant 1st Ad. B.D.A.V. And was given a full Military Funeral. Including Firing Party (with arms reversed) his body carri...

Re: Robert Brent M.D. (1819-1872)
As Robert was in the Army, depending on when he joined is possible that for his first marriage he had no got permission from the Army to marry, so even though the marriage was legal, he would of married again but this time with permission from the Army.

FMP do have a list of Institutions with the Piece No. See https://www.findmypast.co.uk/articles/world-records/1921-census---institutions-and-prisons which confirms that Piece 8801 is Romford Workhouse. If you go to https://www.findmypast.co.uk/articles will find links for 1921 Census - British armed...

Birth Registrations should normally take place within 6 weeks of the Birth. So would also need to look in Q2 as well, especially as born at the end of March.

Just to say that FTDNA. will be releasing myFamilyTree 2.0 as from the 18th November. And also improving the family tree tools over the next few months.
