Re: Hide Startup Banner
If you want to see how long the splash screen displays for when the application isn't actually doing anything, try clearing your default startup project, and restarting FH. When I do that, the splash screen is displayed for about a second.

If you click on the splash screen, or press any key on your keyboard, that will make it close immediately.

Re: Checking string is ASCII
I don't usually get involved in these discussions, but I wanted to respond to a couple of things Mark said as I thought they might cause confusion. First Mark said: "The MS structure does not support "ANSI" encoding, consistent with their move away from this format". If by the &q...

Re: “{others}” sentence role code in FH 7.0.9.0
@MichaelM: {others} is a new code added in 7.0.9.0 to help with the TMG direct import. It refers to all witnesses other than the current one, irrespective of role.
>> But there's no reference in the help file to any “{others}” code.
We'll add it in 7.0.10.0.

Re: A photo from RootsTech
Apologies everyone that we haven't posted more details before now. But we will be posting more updates primarily via Bulletins shortly. I can confirm that Version 7 is on its way. I can't tell you when yet. But given that we haven't even started beta-testing yet, it definitely won't be before Christ...

Re: Is it possible to "nest" functions
Hi Bill the short answer is Yes - functions can be nested within one another. There is no limit to the number of levels that you can nest them either. When you call one function as a 'parameter' to another function, you must make sure that the type of value returned by the first function matches the...

Re: Assigning a fact to multiple individuals
Why not use the Witness feature for this? I would suggest creating a new fact type (e.g. an Individual event called "Travel" say) and give it a sentence template like this: {date} {individual} travelled {place} <with {other=Fellow Traveller}> Then, in the Fact Definition window, click on t...

Re: Import TMG V7 to FH V6 project failure
artejay: the Family Historian direct TMG import should import all versions of TMG. If you have a version which doesn't import with FH6.2, we'd like to check it out so we can find out what the problem is. I appreciate that you've already found a workaround, so may not be interested - but if you were ...

Re: FH 6.1 Released
We counted four issues that were raised in the 6.1.4 pre-release thread: (1) We do not believe the problem that John Morrison reports is a bug in FH. We think it is caused by a conflict with a background application of some kind. The good news is that only one person has reported the problem (John) ...
