Re: A photo from RootsTech

Apologies everyone that we haven't posted more details before now. But we will be posting more updates primarily via Bulletins shortly. I can confirm that Version 7 is on its way. I can't tell you when yet. But given that we haven't even started beta-testing yet, it definitely won't be before Christ...

Re: Is it possible to "nest" functions

Hi Bill the short answer is Yes - functions can be nested within one another. There is no limit to the number of levels that you can nest them either. When you call one function as a 'parameter' to another function, you must make sure that the type of value returned by the first function matches the...

Re: Assigning a fact to multiple individuals

Why not use the Witness feature for this? I would suggest creating a new fact type (e.g. an Individual event called "Travel" say) and give it a sentence template like this: {date} {individual} travelled {place} <with {other=Fellow Traveller}> Then, in the Fact Definition window, click on the 'Roles'...

Re: Import TMG V7 to FH V6 project failure

>> which I have seen make import attempts not work for prior versions We are not aware of any version of TMG that won't import into FH6.2. Our direct import has been in place for a long time (we didn't just add it when TMG was discontinued) and is pretty thoroughly tested back to version 4 of TMG. I...

Re: Import TMG V7 to FH V6 project failure

artejay: the Family Historian direct TMG import should import all versions of TMG. If you have a version which doesn't import with FH6.2, we'd like to check it out so we can find out what the problem is. I appreciate that you've already found a workaround, so may not be interested - but if you were ...

Re: FH 6.1 Released

We counted four issues that were raised in the 6.1.4 pre-release thread: (1) We do not believe the problem that John Morrison reports is a bug in FH. We think it is caused by a conflict with a background application of some kind. The good news is that only one person has reported the problem (John) ...

Re: Test for plural witness

Have you looked at the Help page on Template Codes? It addresses this topic. To find the page, open the Help and then type "Template Codes" in the Index. You can also get there by clicking the Help button when editing fact definitions or roles. If you scroll down to the 'Role Codes' section, there i...

Re: New Pre-release: 6.1.3

I can confirm that there is a bug with the menu button on the toolbar of the Source pane. It checks citation and fact media instead of citation and Source record media as it should. This affects both the greying of the menu, and the list of media in the submenu "Open Media in Editor/Player". We also...

We've tweaked this in 6.0.4. Previously, custom source elements in custom source types were not getting the correct labels (they were just labelled as "Source Element"). That has now been fixed.

We have now released a new version of FH (6.0.3) which we believe fixes the crashing problem reported in this thread. We can't be 100% certain because there may be more than one problem. But we have certainly found a very good candidate that is media-related, and can cause the program to crash in mu...

Thanks for report this Mike. It turns out that all functions which have a parameter which is an enumerated value, introduced in version 6, also don't work with fhCallBuiltInFunction. We will fix this (for all of them) in the next upgrade (due out soon).
