Re: Formatting text in a diagram box
Thank you SO much… that’s REALY not obvious… I kept trying to edit the text and nothing happened except the top name changing… I didn’t realise the change of format had to be above the appropriate line of text…

Formatting text in a diagram box
Hello - I'm sure there is a way to do what I want, but I can't find out anywhere... please help!
I have a diagram with the spouse included in the same box as the other person. I want to make the text which says 'Spouse: [name]' larger and bold.
How can I do this? See screenshot.

Re: Lost fact set
Thanks @Mark1834 I backup the entire project folder - I didn't realise you had to do fact sets separately... as you say, lesson learned!

Lost fact set
Good morning... I've managed to delete a custom fact set and all the data connected to it. I thought I'd be clever and go back to an older version of the project file, to enable me to see how I'd set up the fact set and reproduce the data, but whilst the old project file has the data, the fact set t...

Re: Formatting text in charts
Mike - that's BRILLIANT - all sorted... for some reason I'd been deleting the text 'note' between the '%'s and hadn't tried deleting the word 'note' before them -
The way to format text wasn't on my radar at all - but is now
So huge thanks

Formatting text in charts
Hello, apologies, as always, that I’ve failed to find this information elsewhere. I’m creating a chart from a diagram, adapting an existing template, and want the notes to appear in it. 2 questions: 1. How do I get rid of the template text ‘Note’ - I don’t want it to appear, but can’t work out how I...

Re: Diagram editing
Well, how stupid am I - I couldn't see it for looking... I think because I was convinced the remove option would be an arrow, like in other bits of FH. Thanks so much

Diagram Text Scheme editing
Hello - for some reason the diagram editing option isn't allowing me to remove a field. When I select a 'used item' field from the right hand box, there's no left facing arrow to remove it. I can add them from the 'Available items' as there's a right facing arrow, but not remove them. Please help!

Customise main application toolbar
In old versions of FH the different chart options were on the main application toolbar along the top. Now 'Charts' is a drop-down menu. How can I customise toolbar so that I have, for example, 'ancestors and descendants chart' visible? I use this all the time, so don't want to have to go through a d...

Re: RE-use Sources across different projects
Thanks both - I can understand why it seems crazy starting a new project... it makes sense to me because of what I'm doing, but I'll think again... in the mean time, I'll do the exporting as suggested

RE-use Sources across different projects
Hello, I use FH for researching different unrelated families but who are connected to a particular period in history. I therefore tend to start a new project for each family. The sources I use - books, databases, etc. - tend to be the same across projects, but every time I start a new project I have...

Lists v Flags
Hello! I've decided to 'clean up' my data entry, and make more links between different records. Is there an advantage of using a list rather than a flag - or visa versa? The kind of things I'm thinking about are: noting people who were part of the same company / had the same civic role; noting which...

Re: Exporting gedcom file to excel
Thanks - I've just spent an hour or so playing with the data from a FH query imported into Tableau via csv... and realised that it only understands relationships as text, without any understanding of what 'uncle' means in relation to 'daughter' etc. Which, now I think about it, is pretty obvious... ...

Thanks for your replies #Jane, #Tatewise and #Valkrinder... (not sure how to tag you - apols)... you all raise good questions about WHY I want to do it... Exporting gedcom file to excel
Hello - is it possible to export a gedcom file into excel... I've found converting software on line, but a bit wary - https://www.oxy-gen-soft.net/index_en.php. The reason I ask is because I want to import it into Tableau... though not sure if this will show relational information.

Using Family Historian on more than one device
Apologies if there's an answer to this somewhere which I haven't been able to find... I have looked! I use FH v6 on my PC, but would like to use it on at least one other device - an iPad and / or a Windows notebook. Even more ideally, I'd like to be able to access it via the web, so I can use it on ...

Facts - adding values and attaching to more than one person
I am researching individual's slavery compensation awards, and so have created several facts: the amount of the award, the number of slaves it was for and the award no. I have 3 questions: 1) I've created 3 separate 'attribute' facts because I can't work out how to create all the information in a si...
