Re: Narrative Report Heading how to change it?

If you go to Report Options > Page Layout > Header, you will probably find
"Descendants of Emily Matilda Nash/Payne by Generation".
You can edit this out just to read "Descendants by Generation", or remove it completely.

Does not adding 'Burial Place' to the record list provide the same answer?

Re: Relationship to Root

Right click on one of the Record Labels (ID, Dates, etc), click on Configure
Click on Relationship to Root and use the Right hand arrow to place it in the Column list. you can then move it up and down to where you would like it to be.

Jane Thanks for the link to the thread, and to rfj1001 for the solution to Bitdefender preventing opening FH.
I am now up and running again.

Amazing what this Forum can do for you.

FH will not open

HELP. I have just installed Bitdefender Antivirus Plus and am now unable to open FH. The programme is still there in Explorer under Calco Pie but there are no further files apart from Tutorial Files when I click the Short cut, nothing happens. There does not appear to be an FH Application. Should th...

Re: GRO PDF Sytem

Thanks for all your replies. However, I have, in the past, had 'Your reference' inputs acted on when the order was for the Standard Service. And, yes, there was a number of deaths registered with the same name and similar age registered in the particular area in the time span I was looking at. I plu...

GRO PDF Sytem

I feel that I should bring an apparent anomaly in the GRO's PDF email system to your attention. I recently ordered a PDF image of an ancestor's Death certificate, indicating in the box "Your reference" that she be the "Wife of Samuel...". This was to isolate the correct certificate from several deat...

Re: vertical diagram

Maybe you are looking for one of the Diagram variants shown under View > Standard Diagram Types.
The Descendant, Pedigree and Bow Tie Charts all print in a horizontal aspect, which is what I think you may be after.

Re: Creating a new record type

Peter As Tatewise mentioned, I omitted to give details of how to get the information to show up. Attached is the Sentence structure which enables the final sentence as shown on my first attachment. This is the standard Emigration text with < =GetLabelText > additions as per the Note section. (The '....

Re: Creating a new record type

Peter
I use the Emigration fact and add the arrival date and ship in Notes, as per the attached screen shot.
(If it was an Emigration, that is. You can use a similar method for Transportation, but you will have to create a Custom Fact.)

Re: Suppress abbreviation 'USA' from Publish/Books any report

Could you just NOT include USA in the Place description for your US places, but include the other countries as and when they occur. I have a similar situation where the biggest majority are English, with some US, Australian and Canadian, as well as the rest of the UK. These countries ARE included in...

Re: Customise Occupation Sentence Template

I treat occupations in a similar way. Enter Occupation as 'labourer" and reports show "...he was a labourer...".
Text from source is as per document (census, Birth, baptism, etc. records), as mentioned by Adrian.

Re: Usability of FH with/without the Book

I went to FH3 after PAF 'died'. I have upgraded as upgrades came along and also use AS. I downloaded the v. 5 book but rarely use it. I don't think that I have even looked at the Sample family. I potter along, missing obvious things (viz. my last post regards Ancestors), but generally everyone is in...

Re: Query to list immediate ancestors

Bill and Mike, thanks

Stupid me! I missed the Ancestor query and tried to use the different Relative queries.

I have also incorporated the refinements suggested by Mike.

Thanks again. (You would think that after 10 years I would have found that).

Query to list immediate ancestors

I have been attempting (without much luck) to create a query which will list my Immediate ancestors, by which I mean: Grand parents, Great Grand parents, Great Great Grandparents, etc., back as far as they go, without uncles, aunts, cousins and all the rest. I have not been having much luck with the...

Re: Pop Up in AS

Thanks for the responses. I was not aware that Associated Individuals referred to Witnesses, Ministers, etc. and I will have to check in the future that I hit Add. I will also check those which gave the Pop-up, to see if all are there.

Pop Up in AS

Nick I have recently started getting the attached pop-up in AS when I hit the 'Save' button It appears to come on all entries - B, M, D - but not (I think) censuses. Pressing the 'OK' button works, the pop-up goes away, and the info is passed to FH as it always has. Is this something new, or am I do...

Re: Matching Census and Occupation dates in Diagrams

Thank you both. The string (?) worked perfectly. As for not getting all occupations, there are some that are missed out (weddings, etc.) but my main idea is there.
The explanation of all the terms was also very useful.
Thanks again

Re: Printing a simple landscape tree

I think the Tree may have been compiled using PAF, customised to suit, or Ancestral Quest which is based on PAF, anyway, I think.
I have printed very similar trees using both the above.
Maybe you used PAF before it was 'decommissioned'.

Re: Expressions and Icons Again - Success?

I have been looking at these expressions for some time as they appear to fit in with the way I set up my diagrams. I like the way the various census icons are coloured to show single or married. However, at the risk of appearing completely dumb, where does INDI.FAMS>CENS come from? I have found it a...
