Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Ok Mike, I think after a week or so, my mind has become a bit fuzzy with one laptop giving errors on the plugin and the new one functioning correctly. I will make sure that in future I tick the restore registry box when reinstalling the settings. Is there a registry box tick on the plug-in for both ...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Hi again Mike, I have managed to Restore FH7 on my new laptop. I ran the Restore Settings plug-in and I noticed that the Registry button seemed to be greyed out.....(or is it grey normally)? I had Program files button in green, and skip button. I did select the registry option..... Anyway, through a...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
It is important to understand that FH uses the Windows Registry for many settings instead of the ProgramData folder. Users have complained about the way settings are all over the place but not much as improved. The core standard Diagram Options and thus Box Conditions for Icons are saved in the Wind...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Ok, following on from the other night. 1) I ran the restore settings (on my new laptop) for a previous version (after viewing the option), this brought back most things APART from my custom diagram box settings and icons. 2) I returned to my temporary machine and decided to upgrade to the equivalent...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Thanks Mike and Matthew,
I’m afraid I have been away from my laptop since Wednesday, should be back up and running tomorrow.
I’ll try and hunt down a Windows Pro machine to see if I can resurrect the hard disk. Very good idea!
Thanks for your help.

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Hi again Mike, An update.....On my temp laptop I..... Reinput the icon rules in the diagram box entries, plus a few flag entries and that worked well. Used the Backup and Restore settings facility and also backed up total database. New laptop arrived today, so removed link to old HP laptop and insta...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Ok Mike, That makes me feel much better after a bit of a **** day. I think we have all been there sometime haven't we? It's a mere drop in the ocean in comparison to what's going on in the world at the moment!! I'll create the Custom Diagram and revisit what you advised me on the Box Conditions and ...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
I presume you modified one of the core toolbar Diagrams to add the Icons. Not recommended. Sorry Mike, I am not sure what you mean by the first line.......... What I did was write a line of code for each icon event (that you kindly sent me on another thread) in the Diagram boxes area to change from ...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Ok I have found the hidden directories on E: drive and I have copied the Family Historian directory to the same place on the C: drive. The custom facts have returned but not the icons, even though they are in the C: directory. I seem to have lost all the box conditions? Also I have a duplicate proje...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Hello again Mike and thanks for coming back to me (is that 20100 yet?) Appreciate your help as always. I am in a bit of a tizzy at the moment so please bear with me. A Slight Laptop Problem

I have upgraded to Ver7 and I decided to convert all my Paper clippings from Generic to Templates, this I have been working away since Christmas and have nearly finished Phase 1. This includes "Text to Sourcing each on...

Re: re naming source/media files
Hi just stumbled across this.....and it looks interesting. Tried the Jan 2021 version and it worked very well on a media file. Is there any way of removing the id code at the beginning and the underscores between the descriptors in the final file name, because that would be exactly what I require. I...

Re: Moving Project and settings from V6 to another laptop with V7
Hi Mike and CVG, My wife just came through from the kitchen brandishing a credit card saying Happy Christmas just upgrade the b software!!! I think I wore her down by blasting the Christmas lights too much!! (Great idea by the way Jane) So, I've bitten the bullet and upgraded to FH7, got a fairly go...

Re: Moving Project and settings from V6 to another laptop with V7
No, I have set the path to where my Backups are... G:/ etc etc. Now I get a different error.... My backups are in my own path on C: Drive, plus on a G: Drive detachable for obvious reasons. I don't have full FH7 on my Dell (just trial) and no special settings either. I have many executables for FH s...

Re: Moving Project and settings from V6 to another laptop with V7
Hi Mike, Laptop was originally Windows 7, but upgraded to Windows 10 approx 18 months ago....so no non-standard settings I believe. You are correct about the Backup, Restore Settings, it is the first time that I have downloaded it and tried to use it. Not sure why it is not working. I assume then, I...

Moving Project and settings from V6 to another laptop with V7
Hello and Seasons Greetings to all FHUG users, I have decided to keep my V6 ruled off project on one computer and will instal full V7 on another laptop for the time being. I have backed up locally and remotely my database on V6. I downloaded the Backup Restore Settings plugin on V6 laptop and run it...

Re: Little help with DEA please
Thanks CVG,
I put a Birth Certificate through the DEA and it worked, I could see and reach the OK button in the bottom LH corner!!
So, it looks like I chose the wrong type of Certificate to do my first test, doh!

Re: Little help with DEA please
As ever, many thanks for all of your replies. The plugin downloaded and I then selected it from the DEA option, so I am using the Marriage DEA. Yes, Mark, CP may have put something in to guard against full usage....but as CVG has mentioned, I must be using it. CVG, I have tried maximising, dragging ...

Little help with DEA please
Capture d’écran 2020-12-20 191327.jpg I thought that I would try the new FH7 Source / Citation option in the trial version. I took a Marriage Cert and opened a Source, entered the details and then opened the DEA for Marriage. I then filled in the info as seen on the captured image. However, I canno...

Genius Mike.....does the job spot on, I'm well pleased. I have now remove all flags on the main data sources. Re: Ancestral Sources - Remove Flag Support?
Ok Mike, Five of the six work fine thank you very much, it's now down to the best way of interpreting the Birth Record. I am thinking of designing a query on Birth date to show all the individuals without a proper date and possible attached source. But how do I design it so that Estimate Census year...

Re: Ancestral Sources - Remove Flag Support?
Thanks again Mike, I actually found the ContainsText string but still had the other string with it, so I either had all BC showing on all persons or none at all!!! First three worked a treat....... Thanks Mike, great info. OK I never though I'd start to understand Expressions, but I am taking small steps forward, thank you. It looks a very powerful part of the program. Re: Ancestral Sources - Remove Flag Support?
OK I have managed with your help to Remove the Flags for all the Census entries via the Named Lists and Record Flags option and also from the Diagram boxes, the Expressions seem to be working in their place.
