Blank notes in exported gedcom

As suggested I used a query to find the blank note fields in my exported gedcom file. Either of the two Custom Queries in the FHUG 'Downloads' section could be used on my file. ie Individual Notes.fhq or Find all People with Local Notes.fhq By sorting on 'Note' on the query all the blank fields appe...

Blank notes in exported gedcom

I am currently exporting my FH gedcom to import into TNG 8. I have about 400 notes mainly related to individuals and I have editted the notes so that selective parts or all of a note are private with the [[ ]] facility and not exported. That works fine. What I am finding however is that if I make al...

Multimedia Records - Link/Note

On the subject of Multimedia Link Notes What is the significance of the two different ways a Link/Note is displayed in FH ? Thanks for that Jane. I found what I was looking for very quickly in the General Forum Archive. Having found the archive pages I used the 'Find' facility in Explorer, put my user name in the find box and paged through the archive. On each page I clicked the 'Next' button on Explorer to refresh the s...

Old Forum Posts

I was looking for an old post of mine with some information in regarding flags. I did an 'Advanced Search' on 'User' and found I had only 11 previous posts. Against my profile I noticed my total posts was 30. The post I was looking for appeared to have had gone. My question is 'Are posts archived pe...

V4 nbsp;- upside down text

Is this problem confined to XP or has anybody had this problem using Vista?

I am looking at evaluating FH V4 on Vista Home Premium 64 bit and would be interested if anyone has had the problem on Vista. Reading the tread it appears that only XP is affected.

Keeping FH4 on two pc's in sync

Thanks for reply Jane. I would have thought one of the main reasons for having the Project folder was that all the data required for a project was 100% in it (or could be if all the multimedia files were copied into it). The holding of parameters in Application Data folders and in the Registry would...

Keeping FH4 on two pc's in sync

In the past with FH V3 to keep my data in sync on two pc's it was necessary to transfer not just the latest Gedcom file but also the Application settings and data. In my case as I use flags on diagrams I also had to take into account the connection between icons and flags stored in the registry. In ...

Project folders and media files

V4 nbsp;- upside down text

I had this problem as well. Using XP and the 30 day trial V4 FH loaded on top of V3 already on machine. I can't give the exact circumstance when it first appeared but I could not get rid of it. I logged out and in again to investigate and couldn't see it again ??? I will let you know if it happens a...

Project folders and media files

I am currently evaluating FH V4 and am also not sure about Projects. I have spent alot of time since I started with FH a few years ago structuring my census images, BMD Images, gedcoms, documents, icons, photos etc into meaningful folders under c:My Genealogy so that I can use FH on a pc and a lapto...

Moving FH and display of flag icons on diagrams

As suggested I exported the diagram file and did the edit. As I had nearly 50 icons there were the same number of path entries in the file to edit. Using Wordpad and 'Find and Replace All' saved alot of work updating the paths. The diagram was loaded and the default set and hey presto it worked...Th...

Moving FH and display of flag icons on diagrams

Another twist to this thread !!!!. In the context of the above I have ALSO decided to reorganise my file structures BEFORE I transfer to my laptop so my flag icons are now in a diffrent path to where they were before although in the same named folder ie Icons. I have not had a problem re-establishin...

Moving FH and display of flag icons on diagrams

I used the procedure that you suggested Jane and it worked fine. Your method Jon of using RegEdit would I am sure have done the trick but I am always a bit reluctant to edit the registry so I avoided this course of action. Actual the problem of flags and icons, once they are set up on the PC and lap...

Thanks Jon and Jane for your replies. I thought the missing link data might be in the registry...Grrrrr!!!. Moving FH and display of flag icons on diagrams

I am in the process of moving FH (Version 3.1.2) to another pc also Windows XP.
