Hi Jane
Thanks for the prompt response and link.
Once I found the folder it worked a treat (W7 helpfully hides the folder !!)
Also had to move custom fact sets & custom reports
Many Thanks

Missing Queries after Transfer to W7
Dear All, Just used Windows Easy Transfer to move from an XP machine to a W7 machine. Installed FH5 and navigated to the project and got my data absolutely fine but my custom queries don't show up. Does anyone know where WET put them (if indeed it moved them at all) and how to get FH5 to see them ? ...

Problem Querying Census Sources
PeterR and tatewise Thanks for your suggestions - I've not had to tangle with Fact queries much up to now but your suggestions led me to implement the following. I've written it as it appears in the boxes on the bottom of the filter page. First ROW with a Label (entry field) 'Source to Check' Add if...

Problem Querying Census Sources
Happy New Year everyone I'm trying to write a query to show all the 'Census Source Where within Source' entries that begin with a particular reference for all census entries for a particular year. I have entry fields (Labels) for the year of interest and the start characters of my reference. First s...

Searching for duplicates.
There is an application which I use that does this. As well as checking names you can also check other details to minimise false matches.

It isn't free (19.95 US Dollars) but it does the job.
Hope this helps

Tree Pruning and Relationship Function

That's what I expected until I tried it. With some of my more obscure relationships it says that there is no direct relationship between the two people but then it correctly identifies the person that they both connect to.
Any clues as to how this is done ?
Regards

Tree Pruning and Relationship Function
Hi Jane Thanks for the pointers - unfortunately the two queries don't really do what I'm after. There is a 'How Related' option in Tools that does identify the common connection between two people even if they are not directly related. I was hoping to use something like this to identify the link bet...

Tree Pruning and Relationship Function
Dear All Does anyone have any thoughts on when to stop entering relatives ? I want to make a 'Pruned' version of my Tree and the FH Relationship column is a good starting point to show who is directly related. The problem I have is that the FH relationship identifies people such as 'Husband of 1st C...

I'm probably missing something obvious but I can't seem to get a simple Fact Query to work. I have an event for Probate information and I want to list all people who have such information. If I create a fact query with no row filters and run it I see all the facts including my Probate facts. What I ...

Editor to Find and Replace blocks in Gedcom file
Its a long story but I would like to replace some references to sources in a Gedcom file. These are 'where used within source' so there are lots of them throughout the file. The quickest way is to do a text block find and replace so that I can find the block of lines that I need to change and replac...

Dear All I'm struggling with what ought to be a simple query. Can diagrams show how 2 people are related

Identifying end of a line
Greetings,
Is there any way of identifying that someone is the end of a line? i.e. they had no children. I am looking for something that will show on a diagram. I assume this will require an attribute or event to show that a person had no descendents.
Any suggestion much appreciated

Finding Inexact Dates
Hi Jane The FH4 Fact query works a treat. I have also added filters that exclude dates with the text (est) (app) (cal) and Q That way I get a list of the inexact dates that I need to flag as such. I'm quite happy to have calculated dates from a Census or a date to the nearest Quarter from the BMD as...

Finding Inexact Dates
Hello, Is there any way of finding entries that have inexact dates - dates that are simply a year e.g. 1847 without day and month or any qualifier such as Calculated or Estimated ? I'm trying to tidy up my File and a lot of dates that I entered (before I knew better!!) are inexact and really need t...
