Re: Source and Citation Text to Source Rich Text & Tables
<t>I know this doesn't directly answer anything that PP has discussed (as he is discussing the non-standard sources) but as Ancestral Sources has been referred to I thought I'd make a couple of points.<br/> <br/> Firstly, AS allows you to use templated sources too, whether the ones built into FH7 or...

Sorry Colin, I've had a bit of a hectic week so hadn't let you know, but I implemented both these suggestions a few days ago in the version of AS that I'm currently working on so these should appear soon.

Re: Duplicate citations after import from RM8
I believe it could be done with code. The program could find all the instances of the citation and make the change automatically in the underlying gedcom. There could be an option to turn this feature on or off in setup. It could certainly be done with code, but there would need to be a way to iden...

I don't think reinstalling AS will make any difference. I think in your discussions with Mike in the other thread you ended up moving the project's location slightly. So please can you make sure that you delete the following file with AS not running: c:\users\johnw\documents\family historian project...

FTR, I am a Lumper and a Book, Register or letter is a Source, the place it is stored is a Repository and the Details contained in that Source related to my data is a Citation and many Details may stem from the same Source so different Citations So much of this is just semantics. You have a source ...

Re: media
AS intelligently remembers the file paths you use so that, for example, when you try to select an 1861 England/Wales census image it automatically opens the folder you last selected when you were working on an 1861 England/Wales source. It does detect whether the folder exists before trying to open ...

I wonder if this is related to your issues with media discussed in another thread today? Can you explain at exactly which point the delay occurs. Is it when you click on the 'Select File...' button in the Image Viewer?

Re: Infant & Juvenile Mortality
Personally I don’t save images from indexes, so I have one ‘lumped’ source (generic) for each of the three GRO indexes. Each of these has hundreds of citations, with the index references recorded in the citations. Some people put the reference in the Text from Source field of the citation, some put...

Re: Is there a way to add a confirmation record using AS?
Actually my post is a bit misleading. AS census templates can create custom facts (or census or residence) but not other standard ones. I'd not really twigged that confirmation is a standard GEDCOM fact (I should have guessed though) so it wouldn't be able to generate those. It could generate a cust...

Re: Is there a way to add a confirmation record using AS?
Is there a way to add a confirmation record using AS? How do folks generally do this? Thanks! 'Census' records in Ancestral Sources are actually very adaptable so I suspect it would be possible to create a census template which creates a confirmation fact (rather than a census fact) with columns de...

Re: Using AS I somehow created something bizarre
If you view these two families under the Families tab on the Records Window do they show an identical modified time? By expanding these you should be able to work out which one hasn't got the children attached so you know which to delete. I just don't see how it would be possible for AS to have link...

Re: Using AS I somehow created something bizarre
I wonder if I might have been better off creating the husband as a new person in FH and then using AS to create the census entry? Anyway it wouldn't be too much of an issue to restore from backup and start again. Well personally I've added hundreds of individuals using AS and I know that 1000s of A...

Re: Using AS I somehow created something bizarre
It is a bit confusing... I can see that you've added two people called Christian Tetzlaff in AS. One of them (ID 447) appears to not have been added to the census entry at all, there is no reference to them being added to a family so they look like they are not linked to anyone, they had no census o...

Re: automatic surname when adding a child in census window
Yes I think it's always been that way - the surname is suggested when the dialogue window loads up when a father is selected because the child's surname is likely to be the same as the father. However, when a woman is selected it doesn't know when the dialog loads what the last name is likely to be....

Re: Adding source templates to AS--what am I missing?
When you click 'New' in the Source Template Editor, you need to choose the template from the All Templates list (not the AS Templates unless you've already added it to AS). If it doesn't appear in the All Templates list then that suggests you've haven't imported it into your project in FH. If you lo...

Re: Is there a way to stop/pause the CHANge time being updated.
AS updates the CHAN date/time itself and does this on any records it updates. Nick, AS updates the date/time when it amends any existing records, and it also creates a date/time for newly created Individual and Source records. But it doesn't do this for newly created Place records. Did you intend i...

Re: Is there a way to stop/pause the CHANge time being updated.
I tend to agree. People seem to happily run plugins that make all sorts of changes to their data. A plugin that changes an updated date seems a very minor concern in comparison!

Re: Is there a way to stop/pause the CHANge time being updated.
Further to Nick’s reply, and contrary to Miketate’s reply, it would appear that one could therefore produce a plugin ( e.g. AS) that didn’t change the CHANge time/date, which is what Jim asked in the OP :D Not really as AS isn't a plugin. AS is a standalone program and would theoretically work alon...

Re: Is there a way to stop/pause the CHANge time being updated.
Any change to a record, whether by hand or by a command or via Query Result Set or via a Plugin or via AS, will force FH to change the Updated/CHAN date/time. Nothing can be done to stop that. Plugins cannot prevent it from happening. Pedantically (it makes no difference to your answer Mike which i...
