Hi Colin
Yes that's correct, you no longer need the countries.xml file.
Best wishes
Nick

Re: AS Font query
The simplest answer is that it isn't really possible - this is why the FH rich text feature was my number 1 'wish list' request for 15 years. However, you may be able to get acceptable results as long as you consistently use the same font and font size in AS and FH (including reports). See this arti...

Re: Search and Replace Plugin
Yes I found this LinkID stuff quite difficult to deal with when I first started to implement this feature. But this thread has encouraged me to go back and look at it. Although AS is technically correctly recording the data (just to reassure David and others!), in the next version it will not create...

Re: Search and Replace Plugin
Hi Mike I'm fully willing to accept AS might be doing something wrong here because this is a relatively new feature, but I've mimicked David's birth source and it seems to work correctly. Things that AS does that might not match what you've seen in FH: The IDs might not be sequential (e.g. there cou...

Re: FH7 Source Template definitions in AS?
No, the source template is created in FH. In AS you simply link to it - so in the Source Template editor you would click on 'New' and then select the template from the list and click Save. So actually it takes just a few seconds to import it. However, the AS Source Template Editor can be used to spe...

Re: FH7 Source Template definitions in AS?
Yes any source template you create in Family Historian can be imported into AS, it doesn't have to be in the essential collection. The only thing to understand is that AS currently only supports the use of source templates with the default 'method 1' (splitter) sources. Once the source templates hav...

Re: Odd behaviour with accented characters
Thanks for letting me know about this Peter. It flagged up that the handling of rich text accented and other characters was more complex than I'd accounted for. I'm hoping I've fixed this so can you try out this version and see?

Victor, I think Peter is talking about a transcription of a census in a table in the source text rather than an image.

Do you think that Ancestry would consider anyone using this to break their terms and conditions such as users must: Not circumvent, disable or otherwise interfere with features that prevent or restrict use or copying of any content or enforce limitations on use of the Services or the content therein...

Re: problem viewing landscape *.RTF reports in MSWord
Well the page on the screen was in portrait mode so if you're saving that it makes sense that it will be formatted in portrait. I looked for a way to change it to Landscape and the only place where I could see that was in the Printer Setup. Changing it there changes it to landscape on the screen and...

Do you get the same problem if in FH you change the Printer Setup... to Landscape and then save as RTF?

Re: Entering un-related people in census?
Sorry I totally misread your question and assumed the family was your family and the servant unrelated. So my actual answer is that I would add the servant family member only (with their name in the source title) but in the source text I'd add a comment such as 'living with the Spencer family...

I think opinions would differ. Personally I wouldn't add them to my family tree but would just add them in the source text manually.

Re: Narrative Report Source Text Table issues
Yes AS does have a 'fit' button that automatically scales census columns and this helps a lot but doesn't solve the problem for wider/later census records. I did make the suggestion during FH7 testing to split the table over multiple rows. It is something that I might end up doing in AS but I'd pref...

Re: Person IDs in Ancestral Sources
The idea of the source text generated with help by the Auto-text feature is that it helps to create a transcription. So including a column of IDs in there would move away from that concept. However, if you use FH7 and the Rich Text sources there is an option to include a hyperlink to each individual...

Maybe, but that cannot "import facts from most websites"! The facts must be created in the usual ways. Only Text from Source, or Notes, etc, can benefit from cut and paste of formatted text. I suspect they're using the word "facts" as in the usual meaning of "information" rather than the technical ...

Re: FH7 create new source record for an event
Yes I agree with Mike, it does seem wrong that the option has gone and should be reported. The original options from FH6 that you refer to are still there if you right-click on an Individual rather than a fact. I'm not suggesting that helps you but it does illustrate an inconsistency.

Re: Ancestral Sources v7.2 Now Available
Yes I know I could do better with this aspect of templates and I may well make some changes one day to improve this. If you just rename the templates you've edited then you won't need to worry about overwriting them. I do generally try to report the changes to templates in the 'new features' list. I...

Ancestral Source v7.2, released on 6th March 2021, includes some new features and bug fixes following the v7 major update released in December. It continues to support Family Historian 7, Family Historian 6 and earlier versions. In v7.2 reintroduces the ability to automatically generate flags for in...

Re: Ancestral Sources and Crossover V 20
I'm about as far as you can possibly get from being an expert on Crossover/Wine so keep listening to Mervyn's advice, but I think I can confidently say, it has to be the 32 bit version of Ancestral Sources. I've just released a new version today so use that . Family Historian only exists in a 32 bit...
