Re: Multiple copies of media

Tatewise, this may not be the correct place to ask the question but are you researching that part of the Scott family which includes James Sibbald Scott, 1st Bt. of Dunninald?

Re: Multiple copies of media

Thank you for your prompt and complete response. Your assumption is correct that I identify entries as being the same because the titles are the same. I also double check by looking at the individual's profile, under "Media" I will take your advice on reading the fh Book, in the near future. If I st...

Re: Multiple copies of media

Doubtless, your suspicions are correct. Clearly, I don't possess the accurate vocabulary. Which tutorial(s) do you recommend? I know that a photo (media file?) exists, in addition to the to the one with an X through it because, when I open "View All Media," I see both of them, next to one another (a...

Re: Multiple copies of media

When I view all media, each icon should have a photograph in it. In my case, many of the icons are blank, with a large X through it. In most cases the correct photograph is also there. Often, there are duplicates of the correct photo, as well. Unfortunately, the link from the FH program is usually t...

Re: Multiple copies of media

Tatewise, you are correct--I had conflated the plug in with the identification of media records with 0 links. I have now (with the help of you experts) figured out how to move multiple items to Named List and, then, delete them. 1. Highlight multiple records to delete>Edit>add to named list 2. Then,...

Re: Multiple copies of media

Thank you for your multiple suggestions. I am working my way through them, familiarising myself with them, before doing anything drastic, which might delete records and/or photos. Having used the plug-in, is there a way, having created a list of records with 0 links, to delete/remove, say, just one ...

Multiple copies of media

running v6.2.7 on WIN 7 Professional v6.1 and using irfanView as my photo editor. My photos are stored in Windows Picture Libraries In FH, if I click on Media>View all media, I obtain, on the left of the pop out, a list of media records and, on the right, icons of the pictures in those records. Look...

Re: Multimedia--show more images on website

Mike, sorry, I have been offline, for a while.
For the keys, I copied the Word document in the original file and pasted into the backup file.
I hope that is not a problem.
FYI I put the backup into a WD My Book Essential.
Best regards,

Re: Multimedia--show more images on website

Thank you so much. I'm now all backed up. For some reason, the folder with the keys came out in a format which couldn't be read but I did a quick little workaround for that. I hope for no more crashes but, if they come, I am now prepared. Your idea of a regular backup, via plugin, is a very good one...

Re: Multimedia--show more images on website

Tatewise, BINGO!!!!!! I just ticked 55 for every single box on both the Family Group Sheet and the Individual Summary Report. I figured I could always dial back, if that were a problem. It seems to be fine on the FH view website--multiple photos showing. I haven't yet uploaded it to my personal URL ...

Re: Multimedia--show more images on website

Tatewise, Report options ------------- I followed your instructions (thanks for putting them in easy-to-follow format) and found that the max number of pictures was already at 55, which is what I wanted but the website was only displaying 1 photo. My next idea was to re-set, back to 1, which I did, ...

Re: Multimedia--show more images on website

I have this same problem, again...only one photo shows per person. Re: Virus threat

After attempting the free download, I attempted the download included in the email to my wife from Feb 15. An error message said that had expired. I then contacted Calico Pie and they sent me a different link to a free download and that installed v6.2.2, without need to use the key. So I'm off and r...

Re: Virus threat

Dear Tatewise, As to the installation: Thank you for gently chastising me about saving keys. In fact, I DID LEARN FROM YOU, last time and I kept the keys written, in longhand, on paper. By far, the safest way to store anything. It seems I must now uninstall FH. Then install FH5, from a CD I made. Th...

Virus threat

I attempted to open FH, today, and an AVG (anti-virus software) window popped up saying a threat had been removed and FH did not open. I attempted to open FH, again, and received error msg "Error in installation. Please re-install." I looked in the virus vault and found: C:\Program Files (x86)\Famil...

Re: Computer crash--again

Thank you for the first three replies/suggestions. I also note (totally separate to FH) that I am missing all my photos from 2016). I'll get my geek back and ask him, using the advice you have posted, if he can find the relevant files. I do have backups but I haven't been able to ascertain if they a...

Computer crash--again

v6.2.2 WIN 7 Hard drive (SSD) crashed and my geek cloned data, replaced hard drive, and (supposedly) replaced data. My FH program now works BUT it is missing information. I received two error messages, as follows: 1. Family Historian Validation Report - Friday 17 Jun 2016 ===========================...

Many thanks to Lorna and, particularly, tatewise. Re: Pictures

Lorna, Good point about the frames. I do have some frames but it would be a lot easier to correct the occasional frame than to move every single title note, manually. Since I don't know a plug in from a wall plug, I'll hope that some other helpful soul comes along with a master solution. Thank you.
