Re: Is there a better way to configure diagrams
I know through visual inspection that a huge number of displayed siblings are irrelevant. If you are certain that some of them are irrelevent you can hide them completely, rather than just closing their descendants branches. (Right click on their box and select Hide .) That will make the diagram mu...

Re: Save Or Backup
When you 'save' the gedcom this simply updates the Gedcom file in your project. It simply keeps the file up to date with the most recent changes. This is the file which will be read next time you open your project. The important point about a backup is that it makes a completely separate copy of you...

Re: How to remove prepared citation
Evelyn, it looks as if you have now succeeded in adjusting the display in the 'Sources for' pane so that it shows a wide Source record column. However you have moved the column divider so far to the left that you can only see that one column. As you have correctly guessed, if you select an item in t...

Re: Existing sources Again
If you start by moving the slider bar at the bottom to the right you should be able to expose the divider in the horizontal bar at the top. It is that divider that you need to drag to the left, not the vertical bar below it. snip.JPG If I choose to use templated sources in this fh Project does that ...

Re: Existing sources Again
Evelyn, When you imported your projects from TMG I think you were still using FH6. That means that although your sources had been 'templated' in TMG they would have been imported as generic sources in FH. (Although they were not called 'generic' sources then, because FH 6 did not have templated sour...

Re: Existing sources Again
Thank you Evelyn, that explains what is happening. As Helen suggested, you are using a templated source for the UK 1939 Register, but that template is designed to be a 'splitter' style source, where you have one source for every household in the Register. That is why the people and address details a...

Re: Existing sources Again
Gowermick, Evelyn has said that she 'lumps' her sources, whereas yours is the 'splitter' method. She wants to have multiple different citations to the same source. We suspect that she may be using a 'splitter' templated source for the UK 1939 Register by mistake.

The coloured bullet on the left indicates whether it is an Individual (blue) Note or a Family (red) Note. In addition to the above, a linked Note Record will have a yellow notepad icon at the left, and a note which is related to a Fact has a calendar icon at the left. For these fact notes the Type ...

Re: Sources image duplication in 'Family Group Sheet' in FH7
However, should that potential appearance of those values cause Ibid. entries when the Use Short Footnotes... tick option is NOT selected? Maybe that is a bug. Yes, I'm sure that is a bug. adding an Entry Date or Where Within Source results in an Ibid. entry under Sources even though hidden. Wherea...

Re: Sources image duplication in 'Family Group Sheet' in FH7
That is certainly odd, Mike, and has reminded me of another issue related to footnotes which I raised during beta testing. I found that some information is repeated unnecessarily in ‘Ibid’ footnotes, even when the information is not part of the citation details but is in the source record itself. Ev...

Re: Sources image duplication in 'Family Group Sheet' in FH7
Do you mean the entry date is still being displayed, despite having unticked it in the footnote options? That shouldn't happen. If the date is correctly hidden but duplicate citations are still being shown there must be some other differences in the details, such as Where Within Source or Citation N...

Re: Ghosts in the All Relatives Diagram
You can use Diagram Options>lines tab and set Crossing Lines to be Solid instead of Dotted. Personally I like the dotted style because it helps to distinguish these crossing lines from other horizontal lines in the chart, but it's a matter of personal preference.

If you click the cog wheel icon at top right of the Citation window and select Customize Citation Window I think you will find the Text From Source item appears twice in the right hand pane. Select on...

Re: Ghosts in the All Relatives Diagram
These are Proxy boxes, which are used to show where an ancestor fits among his/her siblings. They only appear in All Relatives diagrams but are particularly useful if you are using the 'flat' style, as you are, because without them it would not be clear where the ancestor fits within the chronologic...

Are all the citations of each source absolutely identical? If so, make sure the option to Combine Identical Citations for the Same Source is still slected in Report Options > Sources tab (it is ticked by default). If any of the details are different, (for example Where within Source, Citation Note) ...

Re: Selecting an existing source
Evelyn, After you have moved the scroll bar to the right you should find it possible to drag the column divider and move it to the left so that the second column is much wider, like this: snip.JPG However that still won't help you read a long note which has been truncated. The best option is to leav...

Re: FMP Transcript of Birth Place - Hong Kong
On the other hand FMP themselves seem to think they are transcripts. When you report an error it says "We can only amend transcriptions where they fail to reflect what was actually written in the original record." (Their italics, not mine!) So if they have transcribed/indexed (whatever you want to c...

Yes, I think you are right about that particular chart Mike. It doesn't appear to have had any particular branches moved or closed. However in another thread 19174|Moving box within diagram Marion was working on a diagram where some branches were hidden. I suspect that she may have a mixture of char...

Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
It’s reassuring to know that there has not been a complete renumbering because that would have been impossible to explain. Most of those missing 340 Record IDs can probably be accounted for as the result of merging records. However it is still not clear how the ‘trio’ of people came to have the same...

Re: Missing scroll bar on results list
Bill, I am not seeing this problem. When I run the plugin I do get a scroll bar at the bottom of the results set. So I'm not sure why you are not seeing the same. By the way in case you didn't know, if you are only wanting to see the record links for one source you can do this by clicking the cog ic...

It's a very long time since I used V3 so I can't remember what options were available, but have you looked at the Report Options? With the report open, click the Options button on the right. Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
That is extraordinary, and I can't think how it could have happed if you have never used Tools>Record Identifiers. Perhaps Mike will manage to think of an explanation. However you say you have done many record merges in the last couple of months alone, which suggests that the renumbering must have h...

Re: Custom Diagram settings
If the box colours were set by simply selecting the boxes in the diagram and then using Diagram>Selections & Marks>Mark Boxes there would be no Box Conditions involved. In that situation it would be necessary to use the option to save as a Family Historian chart.
