Re: All media files listed twice

If all the duplicates have no links then as Mike said, the duplicates can be deleted in bulk. Click on the header of the Links column and the records with 0 links will be sorted to the top of the list. Check that all those records have the 6/25/2024 date. If they do, select them all and use 'Add to ...

Re: Have CP Stopped Developing/Updating FH7?

I had forgotten about that three year old thread. The problem only arises if a parent-child relationship is explicitly set as a step relationship, rather than simply recording the step-parent as the spouse of one of the child’s biological parents. They may be regarding this as low priority because I...

Re: Unable to re-order facts

what guarantee is there that it will not re-arrange the Census and Occupations that are currently in the order I want. It won't. If two facts have exactly the same date they will be kept in their current order, relative to each other. The only exception is when the Normal Time Frames are not compat...

Mike, Gowermick said "NB I have never used AS, so that can’t be the cause".

Re: Advice for Consolidating multiple Birth Facts

You could probably simplify the note. In cases where there is a definitive source such as a birth certificate or a birth date in a baptism record I don’t usually go into much detail about the inconsistent sources. (An exception would be a case where I have reason to believe the date on the birth cer...

As I said, the timeline facts can be toggled on or off in the facts tab, using the calendar icon. I think they are on by default. And you can choose which timeline facts to include.

Re: Why do some facts show as grey and others white background.

You are probably displaying 'Timeline' facts as well as the individual's own facts and Family Record facts. Timeline facts are birth/marriage/death facts about the individual's close family, but the facts actually belong to other individual records. They are displayed with a pale grey background and...

It is normally recommended that media linked directly to the whole record for Joe Bloggs (on the media tab of his property box) are pictures of the individual himself. These can be displayed above the text, to the left of the text or to the right of the text. You can set this location in the Picture...

Are you seriously suggesting that FH can't tell the difference between a half sister and a step sister? On what basis do you make that claim?

Re: Moving Media from one list to another

Roger, Can you clarify what you mean by ‘media list’? As Vyger has indicated, there is a ‘Media List’ filter in the main Media window but it classifies Media in terms of what they are linked to, (e.g. the type of record they link to, or whether they are source or citation media). It doesn’t cover ty...

Just to clarify: Not all moderators are admin, and not all moderators can post in News and Announcements. I can’t (but that doesn’t...

Yes, to copy a fact, complete with its source, select the fact in the Facts tab of the first individual and use the Copy button in the toolbar below it (no 1) then in the second individual’s facts tab use the Paste button (no 2). Remember that there may be some fields whose values need changing, suc...

As we know, CP normally do a 'gradual' release of updates, perhaps so that there is a chance for any last minute glitches to be detected before too many users have downloaded. This release is not yet being prompted on start-up for all users. (I have Tools > Preferences > Startup set to 'Check for Up...

I use a single birth fact with a date range, i.e. between- and- . All the sources are attached to the single birth event. If most of the sources poi...

I meant you to use yesterday's link but I've added it to today's post now. @Mike: For anyone who uses the default display order for posts (probably most people) yesterday’s link is ‘above’, not ‘below’. Hence it looked as if the link was missing, until you added it at the bottom of today’s post.

Use split tree helper to delete all individuals and associated records, then merge the new GEDCOM in to the now empty project? By the way Gary, I notice that in the address you have ‘Norwood RD’. I’m not sure where that ‘ RD ’ came from. Norwood was in Uxbridge RD from 1837 to 1947, as shown in your ‘Place’ line, and in Ealing RD thereafter. It was not an RD itself. Personally I wouldn’t follow Mike’s suggestion of using Ux...
