Re: Listing people that have a particular source type

My previous reply was based on the fact that you asked for a list of individuals against whom a particular source is given . However I notice that in the topic heading you refer to a particular source type . If you do want a list of individuals who have a source of a particular type, as opposed to a...

Re: Listing people that have a particular source type

The quickest way is to use the standard query Individuals Linked to Source . You can also select the Source in the Records window and use View > Record Links . This will show not only Individual records but also any Family records linked to the Source. If you want to see the exact facts used by a gi...

I'd vote for 'Loners', although I realise some of them might have been there with siblings so not strictly 'alone' in family terms.

But if you want a diagram that will show the relationship between "a" and "j", a diagram showing ancestors of "e" and "f" won't do it?
But an All Relatives diagram with the couple e and f as diagram root will do it.

Re: Changing Fact Type from an Event to an Attribute

You could use the Place field to record the court where the order was issued and add the other details in the Note field. I have a Movement Order fact set up (as an event) and put all the details in the Note field. This includes not only the from/to parish but also any background I have on why the p...

Re: Reliability of Registrations and Certificates (E&W)

In answer to your first question, yes. I have a well documented case, though it took quite a lot of work to find all the evidence and work it out. It dates from the period 1913 to 1917. An unmarried woman whose surname was W gave birth to three illegitimate children. When she registered their births...

Re: Images of Residences

As others have said, much depends on the type of report you favour. If several family members lived at the same address, either simultaneously or at different times, you might want to have a photo of the house linked in some way to each of them. This is fine for Individual reports, and if the photos...

Open AS and use Tools > View Log Files . The next window will display the full file path of the gedcom which has been modified, and a list of the recent changes made. Bill, The prosilver heading viewed in Firefox looks like this: Prosilver.JPG I notice that in your screenshot after the two FAQ links you also have an MCP link (Moderators Control Panel) which shouldn't be there for non-moderators. I also notice that there is now, at the time of writing, a Metrolike...

Re: Can Family Historian be simplified?

If you don't want to use the Focus window at all (and some of us don't, having used FH since before it was introduced) you can use Tools>Preferences>Startup and select the option to Display the Records Window instead of the Focus Window at Startup . You may find the Records window less distracting. ...

The report cannot show marriage dates but it does show each person's birth and death years, in the format "(nnnn-nnnn)", provided the option Dates with Names is selected on the Contents tab of the Report Options. Reverting to the subject of the invisible buttons (Edit, Delete, etc) these are now visible on my laptop running Windows 10 but still not visible on my desktop running Windows 7. Re: Claverdon & Norton Lindsey parishes, Warwickshire - duplicated records?

I have seen some cases where two parishes were connected, either because one was annexed to the other or because one was temporarily without a clergyman and its services were performed by the minister from the other parish. The bap/marriage/burial records in the original two PRs were distinct but th...

Still no change here. As previously mentioned, the button icons are white so don't show against the white background, but I can make them appear (in orange) one at a time by moving the mouse over the apparently blank area. So the buttons are usable but only if you know they are there.

Use the Report Options>Main tab. To exclude Record IDs, untick the Record ID item (this is not ticked by default). To exclude children, untick the Child Events/Attributes option. (You may want to leave the Ancestors' Children option ticked) The Marriage Events/Attributes section can be set to Exclud...

If you have entered a note for a fact there should be a yellow icon like a notepad in the More column. Witnesses and Media have other icons. This is an extract from the FH Help files:

Re: 'O.S.P.O.VY.M.S Raconia' - What does it mean?

Rather than VY could it be H ? Then the last bit would be HMS Raconia/Laconia. According to Wikipedia there was an RMS Laconia, which on 4 September 1939 was requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted into an armed merchant cruiser. I don't know if that would have converted it from RMS to HMS. Edi...

Re: Surname list and count per project

There is a plugin called Surname Summary Report written by Jane, which gives totals for each surname with the earliest and latest dates for each. It doesn't count males and females separately but could probably be modified to do so.
