Re: Install on second computer

I assume from your question that you originally purchased FH on a CD (as opposed to buying it as a download ). In that case if you still have access to a PC with a CD/DVD drive, copy the entire contents of the installation CD onto a USB stick and use that to install on the new laptop. You will also ...

Re: Flags Error in Diagrams

I can replicate that problem, and don't know why it occurs.
However, you have already made the appearance of the text conditional on the flag being set, so you can just use GRO Birth Y. This will show if the flag is set but nothing will be shown if the flag is not set.

Hello, welcome to FHUG. Your FH projects can be synchronised either via a local network in your home, or via cloud storage such as Dropbox or Onedrive. Re: Messed up dates

The explanation is that double dating should use two characters after the slash. So for example Mar 1808/9 should have been entered as Mar 1808/09. However this format is normally used only for dates prior to 1752 when the Gregorian calendar was introduced, so it is not clear why you would have a da...

Re: Relatives, groups and pools?

Is there any way of selecting everyone on a chart to add to a named list for Gedcom export? Yes, if you prefer to work from a diagram this can be done easily. Ensure that the entire diagram is visible, then use the mouse to draw a rectangle round everyone. (Left-click and drag the mouse from one co...

Re: What is this yellow box with "Not" in it?

Ah, yes. The default laptop display is 125%. Changing it to 100% makes the 'Not applicable' text appear correctly. However at 125% even when the pane is arranged to make loads of space the word 'applicable' doesn't show, so the effect is quite odd. I'll report it Calico Pie but I doubt they can do m...

Re: What is this yellow box with "Not" in it?

I have just noticed this anomaly on a new laptop. It's not a problem, but it could certainly confuse a new user! I am running FH on a desktop PC with windows 7 and synchronising with a new laptop with windows 10. I have not changed any default fonts in FH, and the two screens, although different siz...

Re: Reports: Adding surname meanings etc..

However, if for instance you put your surname history text in the Text From Source field, you must enable that in the Report > Options > Sources tab Source Information to Include , and that will enable such text for EVERY Source record. If that is how you prefer Reports to be formatted then OK. Oth...

Re: How to add images containing multiple individual details to FH6

Normally only photos of an individual are linked direct to the individual record. For other types of media image the recommended method is to create a Source record for the item, then link the image to the Source record. The image will be stored just once in the database but the source can be cited ...

Re: General purpose lines to connect boxes

I don't think it can be done. It's not even possible to 'Group' an inserted tree with an inserted line, although anything else that can be inserted seems to be capable of being part of a Group. You can of course send the line to the back, so that the trees move in front of it rather than behind it, ...

Re: Evidence Explained citations and Evidentia

So whereas Method 1 allows me to link 15 facts to one citation, Method 2 gives me many citations for one source. Not quite right. Method 1 allows you to link 15 facts to one Source record, but there will still be 15 citations, one for each fact. The point is that most or all of the detail is in the...

Re: Is it possible to date a note?

No, I can't see any way to date a Family note in FH, although two or more notes relating to the same Family record can be ordered within the Family record using up/down arrows in the Property Box.
Where is Gedsite finding a date associated with the note?

You could edit the text scheme so that the surname always appears on a new line. However this will apply globally to all names. @Mike, Foxfam is located in USA. Some USA and Canadian censuses contain more details than UK censuses. e.g. value of home, and whether owned or rented. Also year of immigration, country of birth of parents, etc. No doubt the BMD records also contain slightly different information from UK records. @ ...

If you want the change to apply only to some instances you can edit the sentence in the individual’s property box. This change will apply only to that individual. If you want the change to apply to all instances of the fact type the sentence template can be edited globally. To do this, use Tools > F...
