Re: Deleting UID fields

From Bill's first screenshot it's clear that the entire first column is missing. The column itself has been deleted.
Bill, try downloading the plugin again to reinstate that column.

Re: USB didn't match

Hello Robyn, sorry to hear you are having such problems but please understand that this FH User Group is just that, a User Group. We have no connection with either Calico Pie (the producers of Family Historian) or My History from whom you bought it. It is not clear from what you have said, but I ass...

Re: Show Project Statistics 2.1

You make a will while you are alive, and the date of the event should be the date of the will. So the Will fact is a lifetime event.
The Probate fact is after death, as that is when the deceased's estate is administered.

Re: Printing media pictures

When viewing the photo in the main Media Window click the Open Editor/Player icon at the right hand end of the top toolbar (green circle with black trangle). This will open the photo in your default photo viewer (probably Windows Photo Viewer), from where it can be printed in the usual way.

Re: marital status in diagrams

I didn't choose those settings. They appear by default when I add any <Custom Item> .

However we should not get bogged down with this unless the OP has any problems with individuals with multiple partners. Don't want to over complicate things.

Re: marital status in diagrams

That will automatically apply to the appropriate family couple even if there were multiple partners. Sorry to disagree but I don't think it is clear. Perhaps it depends on where you display things in the rest of the text scheme. For example if I add the marital status to my standard text scheme, if...

Re: marital status in diagrams

In the Edit Text scheme dialog, select <Custom Item> from the list on the left and click > . Then enter %CUR~FAMS>_STAT% in the Template field. It gets a bit more complicated if someone had more than one partner because your text scheme needs to make it clear which relationship the status applies to...

Re: How to enter and link different names for same city?

Creating a Source record for the city would be a useful addition, but not an alternative, to a Place record. There will always be a Place record associated with the event unless you leave the place field completely blank, but if you did that the place name would not appear in reports and, as you say...

Re: New fact

I have moved this topic to the General Usage Forum, as the General Forum is for topics not directly related to FH. I would create a Source record for the writ and attach the image(s) to the Source record. You could also, optionally, add a transcription of the text into the Text from Source field, al...

Re: New Source Record

If a source type exists in the list there must be at least one source of that type. As Jane has already said in her previous reply, you can use Tools>Work with Data>Source Types to see where that type is used. Select 1881 from the list and click Where Used on the right. You probably won't want to de...

Re: Images in reports

Hello, Welcome to FHUG. What I do is link the same media record to the individual twice, once with the frame and once without. I want just the framed 'head' to appear in diagrams and the full picture to appear in reports. In the Edit Media Item window you can tick the option to Exclude from Diagrams...

Re: How to enter and link different names for same city?

Hello, welcome to FHUG. You will need to create a separate Place record for each different name, but in the main tab of the Property box for each Place record you can use the 'Standardized' field to record the modern name. This will then be used for geocoding, and all the variations will be located ...

Re: Multimedia help please!

It sounds as if you have linked the image to the Individual record as a whole. It would be more usual to link an image of a will either to the individula's Will fact or to a Source record which is cited against the Will fact. Normally only pictures of the person would be linked to the whole record, ...

Re: Date error on baptism entry

Did the error message appear before you entered the exact birth date in AS? The original posts were about AS comparing the two dates which were entered in AS itself, and that problem was corrected. But perhaps the correction didn't extend to the comparison between the baptism date and the existing b...

There was a death of an Edith M Geaves in Hertfordshire, England, in 1942 which is likely to be her. I suspect that t...

Re: Producing a list of each generation

There is a standard Query called 'Ancestors' which lists all the direct ancestors of a given starting person. One of the columns in the results set is the generation number, and by default the results are sorted on this column so you can see each generation grouped together.
