Re: V7 Record Census Data (UK) - Ver 1.4
Thank you Nick. I had seen that template but didn't know how to use it! I've now successfully imported it into AS. BTW I think the correct thread is https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 92#p120292

Re: V7 Record Census Data (UK) - Ver 1.4
Thank you, that's very kind of you but I've used AS for years and really like it, so I'm now thinking that I may just wait for Nick Walker to add the 1921 template.

Re: V7 Record Census Data (UK) - Ver 1.4
Thank you. I didn't know I had to use the Prepare citation option. I had just added a citation, but having gone into Prepare Citation and chosen the citation I had added, I now have the option to add details, so it appears to be working. I will also check out the AS option too as I didn't know someo...

Re: V7 Record Census Data (UK) - Ver 1.4
I'm having the same problem. I usually use Ancestral Sources but as there is no template for the 1921 census in AS I thought I'd try this. I've added a citation with the fields listed but I get the same error message every time. I'm obviously doing something wrong but I can't work out what. Can anyo...

Re: Charting Companion DNA Chart
In case it helps anyone else, Charting Companion looks for a custom attribute specifically called "DNA kit". Once I used this term, the report worked perfectly!

Re: Charting Companion DNA Chart
I tried both attribute and event Mike and as you suggest, put the DNA kit number as the value, but am clearly doing something wrong because I haven't got it working yet!

Re: Charting Companion DNA Chart
Thanks Jane. I set up a custom fact and tried putting the DNA kit number in various fields but just couldn't get it to work. I'll do as you suggest and contact Progeny.

Charting Companion DNA Chart
I have downloaded a trial version of Charting Companion, which I'm running as a plug-in from FH. I have been trying to create one of the DNA Matrix reports (also known as the McGuire method). I have followed the instructions given in the Charting Companion Help files but cannot get it to work - it i...

Custom Fan Chart
I have created a custom fan chart with the following contents: %INDI.NAME[1]% %INDI.BIRT[1].DATE:YEAR%-%INDI.DEAT[1].DATE:YEAR% This works well where I have both birth and death dates or birth or death dates for an individual. However, where I don't have a name for an ancestor, I end up with a hyphe...

Record Flags in Diagrams
I sometimes use record flags in diagrams to show, for example, which census returns I have recorded for which individuals and I use icons below each box to illustrate this. Although I have added record flag as a condition (in Diagram options) and have chosen an icon for each census year, the icons a...

Re: Unrecognised File Format
Mike, thank you very much for your reply. In my data file (in addition to the folders you mention) there is the problem Harrison and Betts gedcom file plus a couple of other older gedcoms but that is all. I have tried opening the problem .ged file with both Wordpad and Notepad but although the filen...

Unrecognised File Format
Family Historian was working fine for me yesterday and I made quite a few changes to one of my projects, saving periodically. However, this morning when I tried to open that particular project it would not open (other projects I have open OK). Please see screen shot below for the error message. The ...

FT Analyzer
I have been trying to use the Lost Cousins report on this program. I had not previously flagged any individuals as having been entered on the LC website, but today entered a record flag in FH (called LC1911) to show that I had entered their details onto the LC website. FT Analyzer did not recognis...

Adding Multimedia to a Source
Jane, Thanks for your prompt reply. I can see now how it can be done but I didn't use the icon before and doing it this way presumably means that all images have to be uploaded as unlinked images and then subsequently linked to a person, event or source - thus two-staging the process. In V3, this c...

Adding Multimedia to a Source
In Version 3, I added many images of certificates etc. and always linked each certificate to the source record. In V4, I can't see how to do this, as when I add a picture, the option of whether to add as an unlinked picture or linked to a source record, etc. does not appear. I know I can add the i...

Printing a Named List
I have created a named list and have customised the view to show certain columns, including the results of a query. However, I cannot work out how to print this list. When I use 'list report' from the reports menu I get only a list of the individuals on my named list without any of the columns I ...

Gedcom Census and ScotlandsPeople Census Images
Hi Jane
I printed them directly from ScotlandsPeople. The only application I have that I can open them in is Microsoft Document Imaging. It only gives me the option to save as a tif or Microsoft Document Imaging Format and neither option enables me to link the file to GedCom Census.

Gedcom Census and ScotlandsPeople Census Images
This is not really a problem with GedCom Census itself, but I hope somebody else might have come across this and have some solutions. I have been using the ScotlandsPeople site for the first time and have a number of census images that I want to link to GC. Unfortunately there seems to be a proble...
