Re: exporting to My Heritage?
Hi Mike, I clicked on Export Gedcom File but did not get a pop up box which asked me to select GEDCOM Destination! There was an option to add all or individual records. I've clicked a few buttons with no success. There was an option to exclude Multi media files etc. I must be doing something wrong b...

Re: exporting to My Heritage?
I think my problem Mike is that I fear losing all my tree! I am 74 and have been inputting data for a fair few years now but that's as far as I've gone. Do I just press the download on the screen for the plug in? What will happen once I download it? Sorry to be so ridiculous about this!

Re: Installing current FH data onto new computer running Windows 10
Hi Mike, don't give me credit where it's not due :-) My son comes over every now and again and backs up my computer to the external hard drive, I'm sorry to say I don't know what method he uses but think it may be that he copies my project folder to the hardrive. I will ask him for future reference....

Re: Installing current FH data onto new computer running Windows 10
Hi again, Mike, I have now read through the info twice and understand some of it. I have now downloaded the upgrade to V5 to 5.0.11 as instructed on the info. I have an external hard drive which I use to back up but may treat myself to a new one for downloading my family tree info! I don't believe I...

Re: Installing current FH data onto new computer running Windows 10
Thank you Mike. One more question, should I download the project onto an external hard disk from the old computer before uploading to the new? Actually one more question (sorry) if I am successful, or should I say when, would you advise updating from version 5 to 7 or no need? I hate not understandi...

Re: Installing current FH data onto new computer running Windows 10
With reference to the lost registration key many moons ago, I remember now I had saved it onto my hard drive in Documents and had to go in my loft (luckily I hadn't thrown the computer away!) and set everything up to retrieve it!

Re: Installing current FH data onto new computer running Windows 10
Hi all, I had forgotten that I needed to revisit this forum to read replies, thank you! Thanks also for those responses. Installing current FH data onto new computer running Windows 10
Hi, I have been running FH version 5 for many years (only a basic user to be honest!) but now need to buy a new computer which will be running Windows 10/11 instead of Windows 7. I have been reading/researching the best way to do this but keep getting more and more confused. I am so worried about lo...

Re: Problem with Historian 5
I am an avid reader, Mike, and never start on anything until I've read the 'rules'! Unfortunately, I am a much better learner, as I said, if I see something being done rather than having to understand many pages of instruction. I can see that is the only way for me to progress with this program thou...

Re: Problem with Historian 5
Mike you are a true star and computer 'teacher'. I have just spent a fair time at the computer deleting many 'no spouses' etc. and my family tree is now looking much more normal! I will try to keep it this way! Many, many thanks.

Re: Problem with Historian 5
Thanks Mike, I did see a number of the no spouse in the records and wondered how this had happened - I will try to sort this out using your suggestions. Fingers crossed this puts it right and I don't lose something I'd rather not! Back to the reading board for me! Your help is much appreciated.
