Re: Two burial entries

I think the St Mary's record represents the funeral service either at the church, or at the Kingston Cemetery a half a mile away by the vicar/priest. The cemetery record is for the actual burial. These cemetery records are kept by the city corporation & are not the church records.

Re: Marine Register

I've sort of answered this myself, having created the following template. It's based on the data only death template with everything stripped out except for those fields that appear on the certificate and the REF and OTHER fields, though I haven't used them. I've also inserted text for 'Official Num...

Marine Register

I have a certified copy of an entry in the Marine Register. It is the return of the death of a sailor at sea and there is no other registration of the death. What is the best way to enter this using AS (5.1.3) as the certificate format is different from that of a 'normal' death certificate? Does any...

married woman as marriage witness

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before. When entering a married woman, known to be married in FH, as a marriage witness, she is not shown by her married name in the auto text. This can be edited of course. However, in FH she is still known by her maiden name. So, when, for example, generati...

Re: PDF

A quick update: I realised that after the first re-install there was no message indicating the PC needed to be restarted. I did it manually instead but as mentioned in previous post this made no difference. I have now deleted the NovaPDF and done another reinstall and this time got a restart message...

Re: PDF

I've just noticed the same problem on my system (Win7, FH 5.0.9). Having done a reinstall and re-boot the problem persists. NovaPDF7.7 is installed (with today's date) according to Control Panel>Programs and Features. I've had no problems previously saving charts as PDF.

Re: Multiple Marriages

Apologies for jumping in but thanks Mike!! I had a multiple marriage text scheme but somehow lost it at the last upgrade to V5 & couldn't figure out how I'd coded it. This works a treat.

Mike's Map Life Mapping plugin - use?

I'm getting round it by getting the locations plotted correctly in Google then getting the coordinates from Get Directions and putting them into the plugin fields. I suppose this problem is likely to happen when places in the FH Gedcom use the historical counties, but they are today in the modern co...

Mike's Map Life Mapping plugin - use?

Having tried Jane's Life Events mapping plugin & had a problem with the 'dots' on the map, so I installed this one to check it out. The first thing I did was to select a location that didn't plot correctly in Jane's plugin and clicked 'Geocode Plot This Location Entry'. It resulted in the same w...

Can you help decipher this(1881)?

I read this as 'Py', an abbreviation for the affliction and not connected with the birth address (Bethnal Green London). It could stand for Palsy (= a form of paralysis), and the 81 year old has suffered from it for 8 years. A death certificate may help if this condition was listed as a contributing...

Root box in diagrams

I'd like to see the root box in diagrams identifiable in some way, eg by a flag, such that text schemes can be tailored specifically for the root. For example the relationship to the root can be shown, either standard or customised, but the root itself doesn't need this text and could be suppressed....

Why Ask Questions in Public?

Part of the problem is that using Reply instead of Reply All, in Outlook Express, uses the originator's address to reply to rather than the group. This has come up before, and on other groups too I think. Personally I find this counter intuitive, as I expect all correspondence to be via the group by...

Building a Query

having avoided constructing custom queries so far & concentrated on getting records in, I found the movie very helpful in understanding the query build process. Maybe I'll do more in this area some time now. Excellent.
