You could vote for https://www.fhug.org.uk/wishlist/wldisp ... wlwlref=60 which might be a step on the way to what you want.

Re: GRO BMD Index Citations
Just to complicate matters, I'll throw the Local BMD sites into the pot. Online versions of local Register Office Indices, produced by volunteers....
I've found several birth entries in these which aren't in any of the GRO indices.

Re: Basic setup and use of Generic Sources
The plugins that Helen refers to were written before FH V7 and they use an earlier 'template' concept. It would be confusing to continue to use the word 'template' in the context of Source records in FH V7 where the Source Templates are a rather different animal. It would be confusing to completely...

Re: Basic setup and use of Generic Sources
Helen; Thank you for the suggestion. I'm using v7 of FH, so I'll have to wait until you do the upgrade to fully assess the situation and see how to proceed. I had a quick look at the features of the plugin, as well as the code. The code somehow looks familiar to me. I've programmed in many language...

Re: Basic setup and use of Generic Sources
There's a plugin which may be of interest: Add Source from Template (V6 and below).
I'm currenly working on a V7 version which will be called Add Generic Source from Template.

Re: Birth certificate not found at GRO England
If you know a rough region where he was born in England and Wales, https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/local_bmd might help -- it leads to 'online transcribed indexes to the original records held by the local register offices' and (as Mark said) records could go missing between the local register office and th...

Re: Forcing rollback of changes
More seriously, shouldn't a plugin test for 'foreseeable' errors before it starts committing changes? Get all its ducks in a line first, so to speak -- and (as Jane suggests) report expected errors meaningfully :) There'll always be the risk of unforeseeable errors but in practice, isn't that what t...

Re: Essential source templates not to standard?
P.S. I think this discussion illustrates why the Essentials templates are NOT pure Strathclyde, but templates that can be understood by beginners without venturing into the niceties (if that's the word) of template construction.

David, try: {Type} (CR). {Region}. {Location}. <caps>{Principal:SURNAME}</caps><, {Principal:GIVEN}> <and <caps>{Principal_2:SURNAME}</caps><, {Principal_2:GIVEN}>>. {Date}. {Reference}. <Collection: {Collection}>. {URL}. which is as close as I can come. Re: Essential source templates not to standard?
Thank you for your reply. I feel as if I have ruffled a few feathers. I haven't any feathers to ruffle :) Yes, the Advanced Templates are a step too far for many people. If you want more detail than the Essentials collection provides out-of-the-box, then cloning the templates and modifying them for...

Re: Essential source templates not to standard?
I have moved this to the Sources, Citations and Repositories sub-forum where it belongs best. I would not expect CP to update the templates, as that would affect users already using them happily. The exact description of the Essentials collection is: an Essentials collection, designed by Calico Pie ...

BTW: Once you create a Query it is immediately saved. You would have to specifically delete it.
You can use any existing Query to interrogate the Fields DRA without affecting the Query.
Clever clogs

I was wondering about video driver updates. It's worth checking you've got the most up-to-date versions of the specific drivers for your device (not the generic Microsoft ones).
