Re: Questions from TMG Refugee
To be a little pedantic the Facts tab displays the note associated with each single fact (if there is one). The Notes tab displayed notes associated with one or more individuals but not specific to a fact.

Re: Mac/Linux-compatible version of Backup & Restore FH Settings via Windows plugin
I have always assumed experienced programmers would access the windows APIs via luacom to get exactly the details they need and would never chide anyone for a DIY approach. Admittedly the luacom and windows documentation can be hard to find your way around but I doubt that's anything an experienced ...

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings plugins
Having just experimented with both, that feels like a fair summary.
I know the 'Windows' (new) plugin can read backups made by the longstanding alternative. Is the converse true, and should that capability be mentioned if its another difference?

Re: Media Record links to Header Records
I've just run a test, and it is indeed reporting a media link to the Header Record if there is a Media record attached to the Prepared Citation. (The Data reference for the Prepared Citation is HEAD._PCIT which I can now see in your screenshot (too small to read on my phone!). Interestingly the plug...

Re: Media Record links to Header Records
If you have a Prepared Citation, it is stored in the Header Record. I'm away from my PC so can't check, but I suspect that may be the explanation.

Re: Opening a Diagram to just a Named Person
I think this is partly a generational thing and partly whether people feel intimidated by "systems". I think there's something else in play here. I regularly help somebody who is not inclined to 'click around' or explore menus to find out what is possible. They have 11 years longer in the IT indust...

Re: Timestamp error in Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin
Clearly, the Windows-based backup/restore is faster. No surprise there. I would love to retire my plugin but that would leave some scenarios unsupported. e.g. 1) Windows emulators (Crossover/Wine), 2) Beta test FH installed versions I'm pretty sure a version of Marks' plugin could be quickly pulled...

Re: Generic Source Templates and Evidence Explained guidelines
No controversy! Just a discussion. There's merit in your comment about a counsel of perfection. Using easy to create source details in FH to enable you to locate a source again, and hand crafting an EE compliant Citation when publishing makes sense, especially since you'd almost certainly be hand cr...

Re: Generic Source Templates and Evidence Explained guidelines
To achieve something close to EE, I used the Create Source Form Template plugin (not yet updated for V7) to create Source Title and Short Title (using Generic source terminology) but it was nowhere near as good as using the Advanced templates in V7. It could come closer in V7, perhaps, but isn't hig...

Re: Transferring Customisation Settings from Old to New PC
Have a look at Family Historian Copy and Migration Guide . For a plugin to transfer settings, there are now two options available: (1) the Plugin described in this thread: https://fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=20544&start=50#p124390 (2) this longer-standing plugin which is a bit more comple...

Re: Map Life Facts may not work after June 2022
Is there a wider need to be able to use the Webview2 control from within Lua? Opening a web page (e.g. for Help) isn't an issue, and I can't immediately think of another plugin beside Map Life Facts that needs to interact with a browser window, so I don't think that such a need exists but I'm prepar...

I'm running Windows 11 (on the Insiders beta testing channel). I can't run Internet Explorer as a standalone app (I get Edge instead if I try), but your plugin seems to work fine.

Ruth, I wasn't suggesting you would need to modify the plugin -- I would have to do it, but fear it will be some time before I can find the time, so to speak.
It might be work asking if AS can create text from source without using tables?

If you manage to adjust the templates, there may be significant work needed on the plugin to use a template that doesn't support tables.
