Re: Essential source templates not to standard?
P.S. I think this discussion illustrates why the Essentials templates are NOT pure Strathclyde, but templates that can be understood by beginners without venturing into the niceties (if that's the word) of template construction.

David, try: {Type} (CR). {Region}. {Location}. <caps>{Principal:SURNAME}</caps><, {Principal:GIVEN}> <and <caps>{Principal_2:SURNAME}</caps><, {Principal_2:GIVEN}>>. {Date}. {Reference}. <Collection: {Collection}>. {URL}. which is as close as I can come. If you don't want the Surname in CAPITALS you...

Re: Essential source templates not to standard?
Thank you for your reply. I feel as if I have ruffled a few feathers. I haven't any feathers to ruffle :) Yes, the Advanced Templates are a step too far for many people. If you want more detail than the Essentials collection provides out-of-the-box, then cloning the templates and modifying them for...

Re: Essential source templates not to standard?
I have moved this to the Sources, Citations and Repositories sub-forum where it belongs best. I would not expect CP to update the templates, as that would affect users already using them happily. The exact description of the Essentials collection is: an Essentials collection, designed by Calico Pie ...

Re: Report sources not showing some fields
It Thank you for your advice. Do you think that the 2021 plugin mentioned in the responses, and shown below, will work with fh version 7? I had a quick look in the Plugin store and couldn't see it. Change citation template for an existing source (20337) may help, or Mike may have a better idea.

BTW: Once you create a Query it is immediately saved. You would have to specifically delete it.
You can use any existing Query to interrogate the Fields DRA without affecting the Query.
Clever clogs

The best place to look is the Query Window, creating a new query (which you don't need to save )

Re: Problems with Individual Tabs
I was wondering about video driver updates. It's worth checking you've got the most up-to-date versions of the specific drivers for your device (not the generic Microsoft ones).

Re: Getting Display Resolution
The information had to be somewhere, I just could not find it. Says everyone who has ever used IUP... I am increasingly resorting to ChatGPT: In Lua, using the IUP library, you can get the size of the display in pixels by utilizing the iup.GetScreenSize() function. Here's how you can do it: lua req...

Re: Getting Display Resolution
I usually set the size of a Dialog to HALF x HALF, knowing that will fit on the screen, and have scrollbars where needed, plus the ability to resize the dialog. However, if you look in the IUP documentation and Attributes > Global > Screen information, you'll find (if you haven't already found it) F...

Why not let IUP do the work? From the Attributes for a Dialog: SIZE (non inheritable): Dialog’s size. Additionally the following values can also be defined for width and/or height: "FULL": Defines the dialog’s width (or height) equal to the screen's width (or height) "HALF": Defi...

Re: filling out a source template
Just to add, to record the equivalent of 'Source of a source', I would put 'Ancestry.com' in the URL field of the template and 'Berlin, Germany, Births, 1874-1908' in the Collection field. The template needs modifying to include those in the footnote, however.
