Re: How to get 2nd marriage to show in report

I will be corrected if wrong, but believe that a 'Family Group report' only includes information about a specified family (i.e. a couple) and not any other family to which the individuals concerned belong. You may wish to look at one of the 'Individual' reports instead and include both members of th...

Have you updated to 7.0.5? (I don't think there's a fix in there for this, but there are a bunch of fixes for diagram problems in there)

Re: FHUG Forums font size

There's been nothing done to the themes or the underlying platform.

There have been a couple of posts recently where the poster reduced the font size, possibly inadvertently.

FYI: When Plugin: Add Source From Template (14258) was discussed in 2016 there was interest in a variant that used global templates available to all Projects (rather like Source Templates).
Already done, Mike, but thanks for the reminder.

I'll kick things off. Plugins planned/in progress

As we have more plugin authors these days, I though it would be useful to have a topic where authors could record the plugins they have planned or in progress, to avoid duplication of effort.

Please post here if you're a plugin author (or budding plugin author) with work underway or planned.

Re: FTM to FH - Citation to Source

Mark, this came about as a result of somebody using the Civil Registration Index template and not understanding that particular template was designed for lumpers... I agree it might be a later development, and only if the demand is there.

Re: FTM to FH - Citation to Source

Mark, I'm (unsurprisingly) not working on it but I can definitely see a use (not mine - I'm a died in the wool splitter). It might be nice to go the other way as well -- I recently had cause to help somebody unsplit their GRO index sources -- luckily there were not so many that it couldn't be done m...

Re: 2 Parts - include Custom Source Template footnote in fact definition sentence template

The narrative should be associated with the Fact(s) and not the source. Some people construct a local note for the fact containing the details they want to display, and then set the sentence template to {note}.

Re: 2 Parts - include Custom Source Template footnote in fact definition sentence template

As Mike says, you're trying to put too much information in the Footnotes -- and indeed in your Source Template! The Source Template should only contain the information needed to identify/locate the source , not all the information that is held in the source. -- for that, you should use Text from Sou...

Re: Main Tab Configuration

I agree with Nick -- AS does a good job with this. Also, you don't necessarily need all those details to get a certificate -- a local register office can't use GRO reference numbers. And the GRO can work with: Year birth was registered Surname at birth * Forename(s) * Date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)* (If...

Re: AS Error Message: Data Entry 4.9

Mike, I think you have to accept (based on Nick's experience) that users do get confused, however much you think they shouldn't -- the difference between a plugin and an application might be obvious to thee and me, but most users couldn't care less about technical niceties -- they just want to enter...

Re: AS Error Message: Data Entry 4.9

I do find it amazing that with those two distinct processes the two components get confused. Mike, perhaps the fact that users do get confused is an indication that many people's brains don't work like yours? I don't think existing users would get confused, so perhaps amending "several help pages" ...

Re: FH7 Custom Census Source Templates

Within the next month or so, Nick :D

Except AS will always offer more options -- I'm aiming to support the most 'usual' ways of working but not every way of working. And people used to AS have no reason to switch, unless they like to prepare their citation in FH first.

Re: FH7 Custom Census Source Templates

I'm fairly sure that DEAs can't just automatically work with any of the infinite possible text template thrown at it without doing some technical work. I'm writing DEAs that will work with any template -- they'll look to see if there are any 'likely' field values for name date place address etc and...

Re: FH7 Custom Census Source Templates

There is another practical option. You could prepare the source/citation in FH, if that's your preference, and then use a Data Entry Assistant to generate the facts citations etc. They aren't as mature as AS, but may fit your need, and more will become available with time.
