Re: Source Window Focus - Keyboard Usage

I am a speed typist and still can't get it to work usefully. I'll stick to the filter box, I think.

Re: Source Window Focus - Keyboard Usage

Must be nice to have a list of sources uniquely identifiable by their initial characters :)

If I type anything more than a single character, it selects the first source beginning with the last character I typed -- useless. So how do you select a source based on the 'first few characters'?

Re: Source Window Focus - Keyboard Usage

Spencerdudeuk, even if I type in enough in the filter box to uniquely identify a source, it isn't selected (and return doesn't expand it) until I click on it -- how are you selecting it?

Re: Source Window Focus - Keyboard Usage

I believe it isn't configurable. As to a reason why... I'm not sure, unless it's to minimise the risk of a source being cited by error (i.e. you have to click OK or Cancel as a definite choice). But that's just my speculation. And Enter is used everywhere to expand the details of a record, so it's c...

Re: Query Language

The first hurdle is that, unlike those other features, Standard Queries cannot be modified.

However, they can be saved as custom queries and those can be modified.

For what you're attempting to do with Orphans, try adding a Rows filter of:

Code: Select all

Exclude if =RelationPool() equals 1

Mike,

I promised to post a link to an example of what can be done with Leaflet. If you look at the individuals pages accessible via http://www.colevalleygirl.co.uk/here-be-dragons it may give you some ideas.

Re: Search for Orphans query

Everybody will appear in the result set -- you need to check the 'Pool number' to see which groups of individuals are related. Pool 1 will usually be everyone related to the Root individual for example; people with other pools numbers will be related to people in the same pool but not to people in o...

Re: Export Gedcom File for GedSite but no _SDATE

Mike, I can confirm that I clicked Reset these GST+ Options without improvement; I also deleted and reinstalled the plugin, which didn't work. I then deleted the plugin data file and recreated the settings, and am now getting _SDATE tags in the output. As you say, a mystery but at least I'm up and r...

Re: Export Gedcom File for GedSite but no _SDATE

I'm using UltraEdit in text mode (my goto multipurpose editor) to search for the _SDATE tags but they don't show in Windows Notepad either, No Add Sort Fact Date actions. It used to work as I tested it when you first did the work to implement it. I've done as you suggest on the FH Sample project -- ...

Re: Export Gedcom File for GedSite but no _SDATE

In my project file I have LMO Sort Date objects (created with the Order Facts by Sort Date, with some subsequent manual adjustment to a few) and a few [[Sort Date]] notes. There are none in the export output file (already checked) Export settings are: Screenshot 2018-06-19 14.53.45.png Screenshot 20...

Re: Export Gedcom File for GedSite but no _SDATE

Thanks -- I can use that if need be (I'd forgotten it was there).

However, I have a sort date problem... The _SDATEs are present in my project file, but are vanishing from the exported gedcom (GST Export mode).

Export Gedcom File for GedSite but no _SDATE

I'd be curious how you'd derive a sort date, as per the Is it possible to date a note? (16008) Tue 19th Jun 2018 posting, for my 'difficult case' (no name, no marriage, no parents or children, and no way of dating a note) -- pure intellectual curiosity.

Mike, To answer your queries: The export was done in (+) Full data mode. Yes, I did set Extra Options tab Record Note 1 NOTE to Move to Fam Note Fact? Re: Evidence Explained citations and Evidentia

Thanks for the correction Mike -- I was thinking the Gedcom limit, and also the limitation of how much text from a long field you can display in a query. The point about the problems editing a long e.g Where in Source is well made.

Re: Evidence Explained citations and Evidentia

What about the Where within Source field in the citation details box? As you've said, it's limited to 248 characters, and there isn't any way to expand it. An EE-type citation will almost always blow that limit. What I do (and this is only one way you might do it): Method 1 (splitting). For each So...

Re: Evidence Explained citations and Evidentia

As far as I know Evidentia can split (Method 1) or lump (Method 2). Evidence Explained steers you towards splittng, particularly when you get into the Source-Information-Evidence aspects of it. (It doesn't preclude you lumping).

Is it possible to date a note?

I very often use Family notes and/or individual notes. When these are imported into Gedsite, the order in which they are shown depends on the date associated with the note -- or a sort date if one is present. This results in output where the note for a first marriage follows the note for a second ma...

Re: Problem with Clean Living Persons

Works perfectly now.

Don't suppose you want to change your Export plugin to change unknown names to Unknown (where given name and surname are both blank) or Unknown X or Y Unknown where one or the other is unknown...

Just joking... at the moment.
