I don't think Nick ever announced 5.3.

Re: IUP again

l is any iup.list; tblVals is any Lua table (indexed or non-indexed). It take the values in the table and drops them into the list. You code is a good start, but how are you constructing your iup list? You'll also want to think about how you handle what happens when a value is selected. Have a look ...

Re: IUP again

This is my goto function for populating a list from a table. function PopulateList(l, tblVals) local is_indexed = (rawget( tblVals, 1 ) ~= nil) l.REMOVEITEM = "ALL" if not is_indexed then local i=1 for k, _ in pairs(tblVals) do l[tostring(i)]=k i=i+1 end else for i, v in ipairs(tblVals) do l[tostrin...

Re: Exporting query results to MS Access

If you want to import it into Access, not Excel, open Access with a blank database and go to the External Data menu item. Then select New Data Source > From File > Text File. Select your csv that you exported from Fh. Access will steer you through the import.

It does depend on how Peter plans to use it.

Re: LDS AFN

I suspect the ID meant is the unique identifier in the LDS mega tree, like KWJZ-HGK (which is for a distant relative of mine). Using custom ID would make sense if everyone in your tree is going to have either no custom ID or only custom IDs in that format. Presumably you might have people in your tr...

Re: Use of C and E drives on pc

I do wonder if this conversation is getting to the point that a local hands-on PC expert is the quickest solution? Assuming (unlike me) you're not in "shut the door don't go out and arm the cats with machines guns to repel boarders" mode?

It will work now -- the version on the old link (5.2) was out of date and pointed to a file that had been deleted. It now points to 5.3.

I'm glad it looks promising. I'm hoping to make some changes to the search feature on the new KB which will make it even more usable when it's complete.

Re: Wrong version of MS word opens

Mike, you do not need to hack the registry. What order were the programmes installed in? I'm guessing O365 first as the PC came with it, the the standalone version. Uninstall the standalone version (second installed) Uninstall O365 (first installed) Reinstall the standalone version (now the only ins...

Re: Wrong version of MS word opens

You might have to uninstall both Office 365 and the standalone program(s) and then reinstall the standalone program(s). MS has two different installation mechanisms for 365 and standalone, and they conflict with each other.

Thanks to those of you who have volunteered to help with the migration so far -- more volunteers are always welcome! We'd be grateful if changes to the current KB could be kept to a minimum -- we're not freezing it because some changes are obviously necessary, and content that isn't currently planne...

We need a little more info to work out what's going on.

What else was running at the same time?

Do you have your FH project data or Gedcom in Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive?

Did anything on your system change before this started happening?

The New Knowledgebase

The new Knowledge Base platform is now ready for migration to start (apart, of course, for the bugs that you eagle-eyed lot will find). Re: Military Service & Sources

I handle source images as Lorna does -- mostly one source, multiple document images. My output only goes to a website where I display the fact notes and (if I've done a transcription, which isn't usually the case for voluminous service records) the text from source.

Re: New user requesting confirmation that I am following best practice

For military service, I have a single Military Service attribute. The value is the branch of the armed forces and if known any detail about regiment, ship etc. The date is a period (the period in which they served), the place is the place or places they served, and the Note covers the 'interesting d...
