Thanks for the suggestion; I contacted the author and he replied within the day as follows.

I exported a GEDCOM file, being careful to select the choice to Use Full File Path for External File Links and the result was a perfect transfer. [smile]

A book format
The Complete Genealogy Reporter does a pretty good job, but in my case it fails to find all the media links, failing to find a subdirectory in the main media file. I could I suppose change the structure of my media data, If I was anxious to produce a complete book.

V3-V4 Upgrade
I upgraded without any problems to the the trial version and then made the purchase.
I have not hit any of the problems which have been highlighted as far as I know. Should I download the corrected version, or leave things as they are?

I have just downloaded and purchased the upgrade, which seems to have run completely smoothly. I am now working through the new features - it looks great to me so far!

Delete Census and BMD Analysis
I am running FH version 3.1.2 with Windows XP Home Edition.
I am attempting the deletion via view/custom queries/delete custom query. I get the normal message 'selected custom query will be deleted' but on proceeding get the message 'an error has occured. One or more deletions failed'.

I downloaded and installed this custom query and would like now to delete it. I keep getting an error message each time I attempt deletion.

1911 Census
Most users wil realise that the 1911 census is now generally available. One interesting feature that is new to this census is that the 1911 census was the first to ask questions relating to fertility in marriage. Married women were asked to state how long they had been married and how many children ...

Linking parts of photographs
I have a number of links to individuals selected from group photographs. I find that in the folder used for my photos a number of extra files seem to have been created, which are the parts of the group photos which have been selected for an individual. There are named with names like XO108X-0.jpg, X...

Thank you for your patience. My file structure was more complicated than I thought, and took a bit of sorting out! Basically the method you suggested finally worked and my system is cleaned up.[lol]

Moving Links
Thanks so much for your reply. Sorry I am being rather stupid about this. I wanted to move the folder for my pictures. I set up the new folder and copied the pictures to it. I tried to deal with the change by working with external file links and moving the links to the new folder. This worked insofa...

I wanted to be able to present printed trees and lists without this marriage. It will not be a huge problem to manually edit data I give to 'sensitive' members of the family!

I have a living cousin whose son has been married twice. The first marriage was very short lived and my cousin has asked that it not be included in any data I present. How do I achieve this? I haved marked the wife in question with a private flag but this does not appear to be acheiving what I want....

Getting Started - now available in Paperback
I haven't actually ordered a copy, due to the shipping cost. For delivery to me in Israel the cost was £5.41, making the total £15.40.

Thanks for all the help. Things didn't work out first shot. The supplier had changed the name of the user and things were a bit muddled. But quiet consideration enabled me to move the files correctly!

I have just downloaded and registered the program. As Jane says the output is very different from the native Family Historian narrative report, but it produces an interesting summary. If you are not careful in selection of the information to be included the output can reult in an overweighted report...

The Guardian Guide to Family History
I have a fairly long history of using Genealogical programs, starting with an Apple II, with home cooked programs. On PC platform I changed from Family Tree Maker when Family Historian was published attracted by its UK source. I was disappointed to find that the standard genealogy reports required a...

If the anchestors are of Jewish Descent you should try http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/index.htm Unfortunately the online ordering facility from the Polish archives is discontinued. I seem to remember the subject of family records on PDA's being raised several times. Family Historian will of course not run on a PDA's. I have been exploring the new look web page, and can only commend you, Jane, for all the hard work. I have tried most of the features and so far have not hit any problems. The fhug page has always added immeasurably to the value of the program.

Clooz version 2
Since posting my original message I have completed quite a lot of data entry into Clooz. I imported individuals from FH which in Clooz 2 was no real problem; sources also were imported which did need some editing. There is no need for the FH custom Clooz query which had to be used for earlier versio...

Clooz version 2
I have just listened to the Podcast of an interview with Liz Kerstens discussing Clooz version 2.0. There is obviously quite a lot of work in setting up the database in the program. Much of the information seemed to me to be including in my Family Historian (v3) records. Has anyone used the program ...
