Re: Cannot install v6.2.6
Thank you so much, Mike. I don't use BitDefender. I entered safe mode (not done that before) and ran the download as administrator. Piece of cake. I have since reentered normal mode and it is still working. What a relief. Sorry, forgot to mention that it is at the end of the installation that the er...

Re: FH 6.2.5 crashing problem
Like you I had exactly the same problem (see saving and autosaving). Thankfully, I did not lose any of my work. It is probable that you have not lost any work as it will have been saved to a tmp file. If you find it and open it with family historian you should get your project back as it was. Also Y...

My thank you response seems to have been lost. I am so grateful to you all. That sinking feeling has disappeared. Pausing the Backup and Sync worked a treat.

Re: Autosave and saving
Hi Mike I have checked the advanced tools and "Enable Multimedia GEDCOM Embedding in Project Mode" is not ticked. The name of the file is File Name: C:\Users\barba\Google Drive\Family Historian Projects\maintreev4\maintreev4.fh_data\maintreev4.ged The size of the project is : 2.93 GB (3,15...

Re: Autosave and saving
I think I will try pausing the sync facility while I am using FH, and restart it when I have finished working and see if that works. If it doesn't, I will try your SyncBackSE solution.

Re: Autosave and saving
Thank you to both of you. All my projects are autosaving. I have had another look at google drive and it seems that the .ged file is being deleted from my c: users google drive when the file is synced. If I go to google drive on the web, the .ged file is there and when I download it to the c:users g...

Autosave and saving
I have my projects stored on Google drive. There are about a dozen of them and it is only my master project that I am having problems with. I have the autosave set at 30 mins and I keep getting a warning that the changes cannot be changed. It then becomes impossible to save the file and the amended ...

Re: Publishing book from pdf file
Thank you both for your input. Not yet sure how I will go about it. I may try importing the pdf file into Serifs Page Plus first as I can edit it there. I think I really want a hard back book, rather than printed pages My History seem to be the only ones on the list here that does that. I will have ...

Publishing book from pdf file
I have produced a pdf file using the publish book in FH and am very pleased with the result. It is already nearly 70 pages long and I may extend it. Is it acceptable to ask if anyone has used a publisher to print their book and any recommendations they may have? I sent a digital copy to family who a...

Re: Help with a Latin translation any one?
Purcell himself on the 28th day of the month of February contracted a marriage with Ada Ann Taubman in the church of St Alphonsus near Liverpool. Can't manage the next bit but the M word might be Missa (Mass). I had a Catholic wedding myself, being a Protestant marrying an RC. Although the wedding t...

Thank you for your help, Jane. Panic over. There was a fault reading the disk so I washed it in cool water and washing up liquid. Installed like a dream.

Re: Reinstallation of V.5 to after update to 8.1 applied
I had been using FH successfully with 8.1, but the update kept failing so I decided to refresh the system which meant reinstalling FH. I have the full FH version disk, not just the upgrade. Do you think it might be corrupt? I had earlier in the evening reinstalled Photoshop Elements successfully usi...

Reinstallation of V.5 to after update to 8.1 applied
I refreshed my pc so that I could apply the update to windows 8.1. The set up keeps hanging at various jpg files in the Sample Project and the Abort Retry Ignore message comes up. FH worked fine in win 8.1 before the update was applied. Anyone else having this problem?

I have just bought a Lenovo yoga 13 which is a laptop which turns into a tablet, running Windows 8. I have managed to install FH 5 with all my settings intact, thanks to all the advice on this forum, and am happy to use it in laptop mode. When I try to use Family Historian in tablet mode, the virtua...

Calculation of ages in Facts
I have been inputting education facts for students at Oxford and I am finding the following:
Born 1797
Education: Christchurch
Date 1815-1822 (converts to 'btw1815 and 1822)
In the facts box it shows
1815-1822 Educ. Christchurch 17-25
Should it not read 18-25?

Thanks for your help. I had hoped that the multimedia option would append the doc file to reports. My file is a transcription but I probably have the original as several image files.
