Re: "Rank or Profession" of the Groom?

Have you found a baptism for Timothy? It might shed some light on his father and mother and possibly sponsors (if that is the right term).

Not sure that 13 is a possibility as there would be no reason to put a full stop after it.

Re: "Rank or Profession" of the Groom?

Have you tried looking for newspaper reports of the wedding to see if they give any clues? Is it possible he was in the armed services? Would their records help?

Re: FH7 Diagram> boxes>conditions+

Sadly it was the V6 upgrade disc that I couldn't find, it's been sitting on the desk in the origianl V4? book but it got tidied up. I think I am probably using the wrong terminology I included the media in the gedcom file that I exported using 'Embed Multi Media in Export File'. I'll follow the inst...

Re: FH7 Diagram> boxes>conditions+

Thanks Mike, I found the copy and migration guide too late. I have my media files embedded so they were included with the exported Gedcom files. One other problem, even if I had done the upgrades as per the guide is that I have mislaid the earlier discs, but fortunately I had kept a separate note of...

FH7 Diagram> boxes>conditions+

I have just put FH7 on a new computer (running W10 in Virtual Machine) and I'm in the process of importing Gedcom files fom my old machine running W7 and FH 6.2.7. So far so good, I have not deleted anything on the old machine, but just played about with FH7 on the new machine. I had just about got ...

Re: Will AS 7.1.3 work with Windows 7 ?

Thanks for the reply Nick. I'll probably stick with FH6 for the time being then. Windows 10 is much better than Windows 7 We are all entitled to our opinion. Windows 10 on my laptop has been a nightmare and has caused me to use Linux on the laptop for everything except FH. (The laptop came loaded wi...

Will AS 7.1.3 work with Windows 7 ?

I have tried searching this subject on the forum but can't find anything recent. I remember seeing a comment about Windows 7 and AS a few weeks ago but can't find where. Any comments please, as I have no intention of upgrading(?) to Windows 10 which I am suffering with on my laptop.

Printing 'Custom Query' results.

I have managed (much to my surprise) to set up a custom query, and am pleased with the results, however the only advice I can find relevant to my query is in the post below. Is there any way (apart from exporting the file to a spreadsheet) that adjustments to the query results can be made such as li...

Re: Icons in diagrams V6.2

Thanks for the speed reply. I had looked at the Diagram > Options > General tab No-offspring marker tab, but as far I understood it it would mark anyone who had no offspring data entered, i.e. there may be offspring but they are not yet entered. I was hoping to mark people I knew had no offspring e....

Re: Icons in diagrams V6.2

Lorna said:- The alternative is to make the icon conditional on a flag, but why would you want to add a flag to someone if they don't have the data the flag is supposed to represent? Could this be used to produce an icon on a diagram for a flag that I have set on an individual for 'No issue'? Could ...

Re: Icons in diagrams V6.2

Thanks everyone for your help. This has been a steep learning curve for me as I have never got into changing the basic settings on FH. I have set up a new dummy project with only 3 persons and used that as a test and all seems to work as I wanted it to. My problem now is not all of my genuine data h...

Re: Icons in diagrams V6.2

I'm not too worried about census data being conditional, but for birth marriage and death data the dates entered may be
'c1900' or 'Q3 1900' and I would not want an icon set where I have not got full dates. the whole idea is to see what research I need to do on that particular person.

Re: Icons in diagrams V6.2

Thanks for that Mike. I was trying to set up a system where I could mark an individual record box on a diagram with an icon such as '01 or '11 or M I have tried the suggestion above and set '01 icons (although the size is minute - I presume I will need to resize the .bmp image). This is conditional ...

Re: Icons in diagrams V6.2

Thanks Lorna, I'd got that far but was totally confused.

Tatewise, thanks. Yes, I have the .bmp icons in the icons folder. My problem is how to set the icons onto the diagram. I was expecting an icon on the tool bar. I can't find anything in 'help' to guide me. Any more help would be appreciated.

Icons in diagrams V6.2

I think I'm being a bit thick here. Yesterday I saw a demonstration of the use of icons to mark diagrams with '41 '51 census 'tags' I've used FH since V3 but not seen this before. Seems like a very useful feature and I wanted to try it before I upgrade to V7. I've tried to follow instructions in the...

Australian death certificate -1935

Can anyone tell me if this is the only information that will be available if I obtain a death certificate? I am assuming that this is not the 'official' death certificate. The subject was my great uncle who was a stoker in the Merchant Navy, it appears he ended up 'down and out' in Sydney as an alco...

Who Do You Think You Are - Whitehalls

Didn't know where to postulate this, but it has been nagging at me ever since I watched the programme on Monday. Granted that not all family rumours are true or accurate, but usually I find there is a grain of truth that has been stretched to make the person more important or to cover up a misdeed. ...

Re: FH 6.2.6 FMP Hints

Thanks for that Mike, I hadn't relised that FH was using IE internally - my miniscule computer knowledge assumed that as I use Firefox, FH was using it too. I have cleared the browsing history on IE and downloaded the plug in suggested, and run it as administrator and re-started the PC - I used the ...
