Re: Child's sole link to father.

You clicked OK in the Choose Tree dialogue too soon. (In the screenshots below Catherine REARDON represents your Falelua BOATH TUIOTI .) After setting Generations Up: to 2 click the Root Person: box (highlighted in yellow) and choose Browse... . Then select the missing child of Falelua from the Indi...

Re: new upgrade for FH6 which is 6.2.7.

I assume you have downloaded a fresh copy of the V6.2.7 installation file. Open FH and close it again in case something got stuck. Did you actually use Task Manager to check for FH processes? Are you using an Administrator account or a Standard User account? If the latter then sign-out and use an Ad...

Re: Child's sole link to father.

The reason that Falelua 's child is not shown is FH only shows direct blood relations of the diagram tree root, and their immediate married family relationships. Owen ASPINALL is in the direct blood line, so all his children are shown. Falelua is married to him, so she is shown. But her spouse/partn...

Re: Evidence Explained citations and Evidentia

There seem to be some fundamental processes that need considering before finalising your data entry strategies. Beware that using one Individual , with one Fact/Claim , with one Citation of one Source is unrepresentative. Typically one Census record such as your example will involve multiple Individ...

Re: Importing an Ancestry GEDCOM file to FH 6.2.7 with missing media links

Welcome back to the FHUG Phil. Re: Re-installation of Family Historian

Ian, that is an unusual scenario. The installation files are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Family Historian\ & Windows Registry , but cannot be restored from backups. What you are thinking of are the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\ customisation files. So you need to re-install using the...

Re: General purpose lines to connect boxes

No, it cannot be done. This topic was raised during FH V6 Beta testing as topic Diagram Shape Grouping to allow Group with Box/Tree , but those Beta threads are now hidden, although Calico Pie say they have them all logged. Adrian, I suggest you report the situation to Calico Pie and mention it was ...

Re: Child's sole link to father.

Whether your chart customisations can be used in another tree is difficult to answer without knowing how those customisations were applied. Have you saved a Diagram Type to preserve the customisations for future use? If you have customised specific boxes by hand, then I doubt if they can be transfer...

Re: new upgrade for FH6 which is 6.2.7.

Victor, don't use any of the FH Help > Check for Updates auto-update methods as they are prone to errors. Don't rely on the installation process to close all running copies of FH . Double-check that you have no copies of FH running in any accounts on your PC . If in any doubt, then use the Task Mana...

Re: Evidence Explained citations and Evidentia

It is very difficult to answer a generalised question about data limits for products such as Ancestry and RootsMagic . Firstly it depends upon which specific data fields you are interested in, and secondly such products are under continuous development so limits that applied yesterday may not apply ...

Re: Where is Ancestral Sources

You can't use Auto-Source Citation , but can use the Copy Citation and Paste Citation buttons in the yellow Sources For pane, which allows you to duplicate all the Census Source Citation fields against any new Facts . That works regardless of whether the Source Citation is 'lumped' or 'split', and i...

Re: Ancestry search hints

Ancestry are a law unto themselves, and we just have to work with their rules. They don't need to have any excuses, because they have too large a market share! If you don't like it, you can either complain to them, or avoid using them. They seem to treat England, Scotland, Wales & N.Ireland as ...

Re: how can I define a query to extract a burial list

Welcome to the FHUG . I will assume you use the standard Burial Event to record burial details and put the name of the cemetery burial ground in the Address field of those events. So create an Individual Query with a Rows tab filter such as: Add if %INDI.BURI.ADDR% contains ["Cemetery"] Th...

Helen, I am glad that is resolved, but surprised that it did not work for the FH Sample Project . However, you are back working again now. The Restore Defaults button might have done the trick. Deleting the Plugin Data file is a recurring fix, so I might start incorporating that into the Restore Def...

Re: Export Gedcom File for GedSite but no _SDATE

The mystery deepens, and I am sorry you are having this problem. (The reason I advise using Windows Notepad via the Memo popup is that guarantees the actual exported GEDCOM is examined.) The lack of Add Fact Sort Dates ( GST+ RMT+ ) actions confirms that Rule is not being invoked and fits with no _S...
