Re: Record window anomaly
... the sort order of Source Records displayed in the records window, defines how they are presented when choosing a new or existing source. Typically that applies to any record type when presented in a select record dialogue but the order can be overridden by sorting on any column in the select re...

Re: Customising Research Notes - Records Window
There is a keyboard shortcut for the View > Record Links... command (as there is for most commands).
It is ALT + V + L i.e. the underlined letters in the menu command preceded by the ALT key.
The Wish List requests similar quick methods.

Re: Record window anomaly
... Query or Record Window displays, as the latter are fully dynamic and reflect changes in the underlying data, while the former are largely static. As a result, you could be sorting on obsolete data, which I’m not sure is logical. In my experience Query/Plugin Result Sets do reflect underlying da...

Re: Customising Research Notes - Records Window
Ah! The links are from an Individual record to a Research Note record. It is not possible to identify those links in the columns of the Research Note tab. To discover such links, you must use the View > Record Links... command or the Where Used Record Links plugin. See the FHUG Knowledge Base Findin...

Re: Customising Research Notes - Records Window
I suspect what you requested is not possible, but a few more details will help confirm that. How many Individual records are linked to each Research Note? Are the record links inside a rich text table? Is there a keyword/label before the record link? I am thinking that perhaps =GetLabelledText(%_RNO...

Re: Record window anomaly
I would expect a Wish List item to request that sorting of all multiple row & column lists be fully consistent.
Then all Records Window tabs, Query & Plugin Result Sets, Named Lists, etc, would all behave similarly.
How CP achieve that is their challenge.

Yes Lorna, you may be correct. I'd forgotten about that wrinkle!
That is another difference compared with Query Result Sets which have no such memory.
This is another unfortunate example of inconsistencies in related functions in FH.

Re: Record window anomaly
The column sort rules for the Records Window and Query Result Sets are not defined anywhere in the Help. Furthermore, they are not consistent with each other. In the Records Window, the rows can be sorted primarily on any column by clicking its header. If that column has identical row values the row...

Re: Lost Instolation Code
The installation process for FH v7 is different from all earlier versions. There is no licence key. You use an online Account with Calico Pie. In the article Nick refers to, only the Version 7 licence problems section is relevant. In FH v7 on your Windows laptop use Help > About Family Historian... ...

Please recognise that: The Essentials Civil Registration Index only has one 'lumped' Source record per...

Yes, I am the Search and Replace plugin author.
When you choose Multimedia Linked File fields and Media files you should have got a popup message as shown below that warns about the special features of that option and advises you to check the Help & Advice.

Also, please confirm that Tools > External File Links... and the Media record File links refer to the 1939 Census filenames and NOT the 1939 Register filenames. Welcome to the FHUG Richard. A significant part of genealogy data you did not mention is Source Citations that support your family data. i.e. the Birth/Marriage/Death Certificates and Census records that prove the family facts you have recorded. Many users often find it useful to enter all their fam...

Yes, if the separator is a comma, then the TextPart(...) function works similarly to the Section(...) function.
TextPart(...) also has extra features for tidying and arranging the comma-separated parts.

John, you can edit the plugin yourself to make any necessary changes.
One of us could advise what changes to make once you are familiar with the editing process.
Alternatively, you must wait until Jane notices this thread and updates the plugin in the Plugin Store.

Re: Possible error in Clean up Surname Capitalisation Plugin
FYI: The plugin is using iup.GetText(...) which displays a modal dialog to edit multiline text. The idea is that the user reviews and corrects each surname listed. However, in Lua the default maxsize is 10240 characters, so I believe the dialog is being truncated. So it is currently not possible to ...
