Re: Media Settings When Exporting for TNG

Ben, I cannot explain why that error has arisen. It has never happened before to my knowledge. Instead use Windows File Explorer to delete the ...\Public\Export\ folder contents, then run the plugin export. BTW: Have you performed all the command tasks recommended before running the plugin as advise...

Re: Media Settings When Exporting for TNG

Please confirm that if you use Empty Export Folder and then export the GEDCOM whether media files exist in just the FH ...\Public\Export\ folder or just the ...\Public\Export\[0]\ folder or both. None of them should have a prefix, i.e. they should all have the same filenames as your original files. ...

Re: Media Settings When Exporting for TNG

Have you seen the advice in Export Gedcom File (TNG) The Next Generation ? That advises to set all five Media Collection folders to media . What confused me was that FH in Windows uses a M edia folder whereas I though TNG used a m edia folder. You should copy everything in the FH ...\Public\Export\ ...

Re: Media Settings When Exporting for TNG

One thing that I found strange was that you implied the media files path was ...\Public\Export\Media\[0]\ Whereas it should be ...\Public\Export\[0]\ with the settings you chose, i.e. no \Media\ subfolder. There should be no media files in the ...\Public\Export\ folder. You forgot to explain why you...

Re: Calculate birth date from death date and age

KFN, your advice may be confusing because a Birth Date calculated from a Death Date in 1919 at Age 79 would be Calculated 1840.

Re: Media Settings When Exporting for TNG

Re: Calculate birth date from death date and age

FH has the =CalcDate(...) function that can be used in any Expressions such as Records Window or Query columns.
e.g.
=CalcDate( %INDI.DEAT.DATE%, -79 )

Re: Would like to re-enable a disabled fact

Backup is never a bad idea, but if you are only worried about losing Facts such as Adoption from Individual records the automatic Snapshots taken every day are usually enough. They can be restored uisng File > Backup/Restore > Revert to Snapshot... If you are worried about corruptions to definitions...

Re: Export Public GEDCOM File - new plugin draft

I'm sorry I did not recognise the cause straight away. I had lot going on yesterday.
If the error reporting had been working I'd have probably identified the problem sooner.
I assumed that any plugin involving file handling would be tested with files using non-ANSI character paths.

Re: Would like to re-enable a disabled fact

Rich, the flaw in your argument is that database Facts such as Adoption are attached to Individual records and not attached to Fact Type definitions. They are only associated by Name, i.e. The Fact Type definition with the same Name as the Fact is applied to that Fact. It is somewhat similar to File...

Re: Export Public GEDCOM File - new plugin draft

CopyCroppedFile(...) fails at the very first im.FileImageLoad(source) but the if Error then return does not report the 'Image load error ' .. Error . IMO such error reporting needs to be fixed. The failure is due to an accented UTF-8 character in my usual Project Location filepath. However, any Pro...

Re: Would like to re-enable a disabled fact

No, you would NOT loose any Citation nor anything else. Why would you think that?
Changing any Fact Type definitions has NO affect on the Facts data held in the Project.
The Delete operation confirms that.

Re: Right click options

If by Add Flag you are referring to Individual Record Flags then that option would be conditional on the record type being an Individual record.
I'm not clear why adding a Record Flag would register so highly as needing its own option.

Re: Repository not showing in Source List

In the first bullet list 'GEDCOM' is mispelt 'GEDcom'. Throughout the article it is inferred that there is only one Repository field per Source record. That was true in GEDCOM 5.5 but in GEDOM 5.5.1 unlimited instances of Repository fields may exist per Source. Also, some Source Templates define mor...

Re: Right click options

I suspect that is to keep the coding simpler. In a Records Window tab, only one type of record can appear, so the Add Field option only needs one set of fields. In a Named List, any combination of record types can appear, so an Add Field option would need different sets of fields for each type of re...

Re: Birth of Child Missing in Mother's property box

That is caused by the Fact Witness entry against the Birth Event for the mother Sarah as Informant. FH only ever displays ONE instance of a Fact/Sentence. So the 18 Sep 1842 Birth Event is overridden by the Fact Witness Informant Role/Sentence in Sarah's details. You cannot delete a child's Birth Ev...
