Re: FH tools menu

IMO it is not as easy as you make it sound to change a plugin name. It means managing two plugins in parallel for a while until users of the old plugin switch to the new one. The new plugin will need adjusting to pick up 'sticky' settings files for either the old or new name. It means editing all th...

Re: Installing V7 on a second device

See the https://www.family-historian.co.uk/activation-help page.
I suspect what you are seeing is not activation codes but Device codes on which the licence is ACTIVE.
i.e. The Device codes listed on the left should match the system names of your computers.

Re: FH tools menu

With hindsight the plugin perhaps could have had a better name, but its name is different from the program. Its name is "Ancestral Sources Data Entry" and not "Ancestral Sources". Its Plugin Store description is as follows and includes a hyperlink to the program: This invokes the...

Re: Export Public GEDCOM File - new plugin draft

Ah! Now I understand but the Help did not convey that process to me. Perhaps the Help needs to make it clearer that the only difference between the two options is that in the first case the non-cut-out Media is kept in the original Project and in the second case it is copied to the export folder. Th...

Re: Export Public GEDCOM File - new plugin draft

That can occur if forward slash / is used instead or a URL is the media link. - Just to be thorough I manually edited the FILE link to replace a \ back slash with a / forward slash to see what happened. Media record URL can be opened the same as any non-image media by double-clicking its icon or cl...

Re: Media Settings When Exporting for TNG

If the media file is not actually 'used' by the FH Project, then it won't be included in the exported data. 'used' means an Individual, Family, or Source record links to a Media Record that links to the media file. It does sound like TNG is holding on to some old data. Adrian should be able to resol...

Re: One person ,two names

I have moved this to the FH General Usage forum as it is not an AS problem. Ron's advice is essentially correct to merge the two Individual records. The details will depend on how much associated data you have added to the two records. i.e. Do they both have a Birth Event and a Death Event with the ...

Focusing on the 318 missing files, do they exist in the FH ...\Public\Export\[0]\ folder? Have you seen the advice in Export Gedcom File (TNG) The Next Generation ? That advises to set all five Media Collection folders to media . There should be no media files in the ...\Public\Export\ folder. You forgot to explain why you...

Re: Would like to re-enable a disabled fact

Backup is never a bad idea, but if you are only worried about losing Facts such as Adoption from Individual records the automatic Snapshots taken every day are usually enough. They can be restored uisng File > Backup/Restore > Revert to Snapshot... If you are worried about corruptions to definitions...

Re: Export Public GEDCOM File - new plugin draft

I'm sorry I did not recognise the cause straight away. I had lot going on yesterday.
If the error reporting had been working I'd have probably identified the problem sooner.
I assumed that any plugin involving file handling would be tested with files using non-ANSI character paths.

Re: Would like to re-enable a disabled fact

Rich, the flaw in your argument is that database Facts such as Adoption are attached to Individual records and not attached to Fact Type definitions. They are only associated by Name, i.e. The Fact Type definition with the same Name as the Fact is applied to that Fact. It is somewhat similar to File...

No, you would NOT loose any Citation nor anything else. Why would you think that?
Changing any Fact Type definitions has NO affect on the Facts data held in the Project.
The Delete operation confirms that.
