Re: Privacy brackets in places
No, that is NOT possible. [[ privacy ]] brackets are only supported in long text fields that allow multiple lines of text such as Notes , Text From Source , and Address , but even then the support is not comprehensive. Place fields only allow one line of text, so are not included. For shorter Place ...

Yes, every browser has an option to make it your default browser. Just look in the settings/options.

Re: Download images from Ancestry & MyHeritage
Welcome to the FHUG. If you download GEDCOM directly from Ancestry or MyHeritage then (as with most online family trees) the Media are not downloaded as linked images, but you only get URL, and each Media image must be downloaded by hand. HOWEVER, in both cases, there is a workaround... Ancestry GED...

Re: Upgrade to Version 7 ~ Preserving settings
I don't think you mean Project Window as that is reached via the File > Project Window... command. I imagine you mean the Individual Property Box dialogue that does have a Facts tab. Yes, the Sources For yellow pane has changed and you must use the Edit Source Citation button at the bottom. Its icon...

Re: Upgrade to Version 7 ~ Preserving settings
No, just backing up Projects as normal is no different than before and does NOT backup custom settings. You must run the plugin from Tools > Plugins as explained in the Knowledge Base article to create a backup of settings. That is your insurance policy. After you have upgraded to FH V7, first satis...

Re: Upgrade to Version 7 ~ Preserving settings
FH Project Backups do NOT preserve global custom settings and preferences. They aren't stored in the Project folder, but in C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\ folder and Windows Registry and elsewhere. Since you have several custom settings and others you may have forgotten about (Queries, ...

Re: Book Image ~ Where linked?
As I just said, a Marriage Certificate should NOT be directly linked to Individual or Family records.
They should be linked to one Source record and that have Citations from the Marriage event, father's Occupation attributes, Residence facts, and Witnesses, etc.

Re: Book Image ~ Where linked?
It is NOT actually linked directly to any Individual or Family records. If it were then the Data Ref Where Used would be INDI.OBJE or FAM.OBJE with the records listed to the left. It is linked to the Media tab ( SOUR.OBJE ) of two different Source records with Rec Id [ 175 ] and [ 197 ]. You have cu...

Welcome to the FHUG Stevie.
Presumably, you did not enter those quotes from your keyboard?
So where did you copy them from?
Is that screenshot of a Notes box or a Report screen?

Re: possible new item for wish list
Please refer to the program Family Historian (FH) and not to the developers Calico Pie (CP). Yes, I think I understand what you want, but cannot imagine any circumstances where I'd want that to happen to every sentence for one person's narrative everywhere it appears in any type of Narrative report.

Re: Book Image ~ Where linked?
You need to perform a little software forensic diagnosis to determine where that media is used. If you can easily identify the Media image then in the Records Window open the Media tab and select that record. Then run the Where Used Record Links plugin that should identify exactly everywhere it is u...

I cannot think of many situations in which I would want every sentence for all the facts on one Facts tab to start or end with <para> or <br>.

Re: possible new item for wish list
First, a little clarification. The two check boxes for Living and Private flags you have customised onto the Main tab. Those check boxes are not standard, and only apply to Record flags. I don't understand how the Facts tab check boxes for <para> and <br> would work. Are you saying that if none of t...

Re: converting existing generic Source records to templated Source records
But do heed the advice about using Source Templates if you intend to import or export GEDCOM files much.
There are ways of encouraging consistent formats without using Source Templates by using AutoText instead for example.

Re: Problem using GetLabelledText( ) function
After a quick experiment, it looks as if active web links do NOT appear in Query Results.
You would have to add some simple text to get anything to appear in a Query.

You would be wise to take backups of any settings you are particularly keen on preserving, just in case! There are a number of ways to make backups, so give us an idea of what you want to backup and we can advise. e.g. Use File > Import/Export > Export > Diagram Text Scheme... and choose your precio...

Re: Problem using GetLabelledText( ) function
Yes, there seems to have been a change to that function. I can replicate your symptoms exactly. The wording of that function definition in FH V6 is: "the function would search the specified long text field for this label." But in FH V7 it now says: "the function would search the specified long text ...

It seems that Prepared Citation has a Source > Repository > Call Number field (SOUR.REPO.CALN) but it has no value. Check that Source Record Id 418 and on its All tab ensure that field is deleted. Re: FH7 Full backup very slow
You are still not comparing like for like. FH uses the standard Windows compression not 7zip. As I said, use Windows File Explorer right-click the Project folder and Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder You then get a ZIP folder very similar to the FH Full Backup ZIP folder. (FH actually omits a few...

Re: FH7 Full backup very slow
Yes, perhaps Simon can confirm what he was comparing. The FH File > Backup/Restore commands only ever produce standard Windows Compressed ZIP files. So the comparison would be a Windows File Explorer Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder on the Project folder. Just copying the raw folder & files does...
