Re: Flags Error in Diagrams

I respect your decision to stay with your current method.
Just want to clarify that my proposal is not simply another way to display the same text, but dispenses with you having to remember to add Flags altogether, so avoids such Flags completely.

Re: Flags Error in Diagrams

Importantly, the original disappearing % should be reported to Calico Pie. Currently you monitor your sources and set appropriate Flags. Then the Text Scheme uses the test Flag built-in options. If those options were not available, then you could still test a Flag using a function in the Expression:...

Re: Flags Error in Diagrams

You can achieve most if not all of that without needing to add flags.
Automatic expressions can test if the sources exist as soon as you add them.

If interested then let me know, and I will talk you through the process, but not til next week.

Re: Turnng photo around

Yes, Windows File Explorer has a yellow folder icon and displays your files in Documents, Pictures, etc. You cannot perform any kind of photo editing in FH; not rotating, red-eye correction, or anything else. So must always use an external photo editor. There is a Wish List entry to support auto-rot...

Re: Changing text in a part of the source title

If I understand correctly, you want to make the same change to 10 Source records. So use the FH command Edit > Find and Replace as suggested by Gowermick. No plugin is required. BTW: I don't understand what a deed is? Perhaps post the 10 Source record Titles that must be changed, and what actually n...

Re: Changing text in a part of the source title

Are you saying there are 14000 Source records and each needs a different change? If so, then each one will need editing by hand to change that part of each title. No automatic method can handle such multiple changes without manual input of each one. If lots of records need identical changes then use...

Re: Generations 4.5 to FH6 Queries

Don't give up too soon.
Did you check for UDF?
Post some snippets of GEDCOM where data seems to have been omitted.
BTW: Did you follow all the advice in the Import from Generations page?

Re: Generations 4.5 to FH6 Queries

Did you see Knowledge Base > Import from Generations (How To)?

It is difficult to answer your first question without knowing how Generations represents your data in GEDCOM. So I suggest you import to FH and see what happens. It rarely discards data but may use UDF.

Re: Location

Sorry, I thought you were having a problem with other information not just locations. I asked because newcomers often post one problem, and then move onto others in the same thread. One idea might help, if you want a 'database' of 'locations' is to create a Place record for each Place name. Then FH ...

Re: Source Window Focus - Keyboard Usage

You are typing too slowly. If you type quickly enough, then the whole string is matched to the start of the Title.

But yes, it still only works if most Titles are unique initially (that won't last long :D ).

Helen, he is NOT using the Filter but just typing as soon as the dialogue opens. That selects & highlights records by their leading Title characters. Spencer, I tend to agree. Report the scenario to Calico Pie using how_to:about#problem_reporting|> Problem Reporting method. Take a look at the FH...

Re: Source Window Focus - Keyboard Usage

I have tried the Tab technique to move focus to the OK button, but cannot get it to work in that Select source dialogue. Can you double-check that it does work and give some more tips. One tip to remember is that the Filter by default searches from the Start of Any Word but there are other options. ...

To get a clear understanding of this new requirement, the details of the existing feature need to be considered. Re: Showing census information

I assume you have recorded Census entries using AS and Method 1 Source records. Those Source records hold the Auto Text from AS in their Text From Source field. So all you need is a customised version of the Individual Summary Report . The only facts to include are the Census Events and the Sources ...
