Re: Using FH program on my laptop and computer

That OneDrive master root folder is absolutely correct and the OneDrive app is running OK. So on both PC, can you open the OneDrive documents subfolder, and within that a Family Historian Projects folder so that the path box above shows: OneDrive > OneDrive documents > Family Historian Projects If y...

Re: Julian date entry

No, I think AS only supports the default Gregorian calendar.
You can enter double dates such as 10 Feb 1713/14 but cannot choose any of the calendars Julian, Hebrew or French.

So you will have to enter the date without the Julian prefix and change it when back in FH.

Re: Using FH program on my laptop and computer

OK, this may take several steps to get sorted out. First we must establish if OneDrive is running and on what folder. Start with the laptop: What version of Windows are you running on laptop ( 7, 8.1, 10 ) ? Is the OneDrive cloud icon shown in the Notification area bottom right ? If so, then left-cl...

Re: non-complex table on the fly.

I think what you are looking for is: tblRMN = tblRMN or {} which tests if tblRMN is defined or simply nil and in the letter case defines it as a table {} . So if tblRMN is defined then it performs the self-assignment tblRMN = tblRMN that does nothing. Otherwise, when tblRMN is undefined, it defines ...

Re: A simple to-do list

On point of fact, Jane's Create Individual Shortcut Plugin exploits a hidden command line feature of FH . It can open any Individual record via the Focus Window . It can open any Individual or Family record via the Records Window that may be showing Named Lists . No other record types or windows are...

Re: Editing repository record.

Yes, you can edit a Repository record in the same way as you can edit ANY type of record (Individual, Family, Note, Source, Media, Place, etc). Either open a Source record that you know links to the Repository record and click the right-hand button to Go to Repository record , or in the Records Wind...

Re: Using FH program on my laptop and computer

I assume the Location on both PC is actually: C:\Users\.......\OneDrive\Documents\Family Historian Projects i.e. There is a backslaxh \ between OneDrive and Documents . But apart from that typing mistake, those Location paths are perfectly OK. The first question is have they ever synchronised betwee...

Re: Stop Iterator

I guess that ptrLink:IsSame(ptrSOUR) is a typo and should be ptrLink:IsSame(ptrSRC) ? ptrSRC is pointing to a record, which by definition has no parent, so ptrWork:MoveToParentItem(ptrSRC) will always set ptrWork to NULL. I presume you just need to return ptrSRC Yes, return fhNewItemPtr() will retur...

Re: Media and Place Links

I note from 14220|Address and Place, yet again that you incorporate address elements in all-embracing Place fields/records, so it makes sense to attach Media pictures of that location to the Place record. I think that way ensures the picture is only included once in Reports , whereas if attached to ...

Re: Entering wife's maiden name and citation in Ancestral Sources

I don't disagree, but wanted to give a balanced view. A Title Template including such as Census {YEAR} {COUNTRY} {PLACE} {KEYPERSON.FULL} Produces the year & country & key person name fully automatically, and avoids entering the Place twice. The rest you can append by hand into the Title box.

I think Helen meant to say " AS can't generate ALL that automatically. " e.g. If Ref ID holds such as Class: RG10; Piece: 1347; Folio: 75; Page:17 or RG13/2731. FL: 37. SN: 148. ED 12. p. 4 and Other Info holds such as Ancestry (http:// www .ancestry.co.uk : accessed 6 October 2016) then T...

Re: Entering wife's maiden name and citation in Ancestral Sources

I would add Ancestry as a Repository and enter the URL in the Repository record that has a dedicated Website field. Assuming you create the Source Citation soon after accessing the records then the Updated date of the Source record may be good enough. Otherwise, that accessed date will have to go in...

Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about those Workspace options.
Another option could be to run a nominated Plugin that for example could signal reminders.
If enabled for the Focus Window or Records Window then that would happen at startup.

Re: AS Error message

Whereas Logs are appended to by AS and need write permission. So, yes, try moving/renaming the exist...
