Re: Sorting search results

I suspect this is because the search can have multiple record types, so it's sorting simply on the record display text.

Using a query for a specific record type using contains would avoid the problem.

Re: Sorting search results

What happens if your click on the Record column header? Have you added a column for first name to the records window and have it sorted by that?

Re: Publish/Books ... question on Free Text Pages

It's a bug, both methods should be fine. I checked with Calico and they have logged it for a fix in a future release. Meanwhile hopefully you can use the other setting.

Re: Publish/Books ... question on Free Text Pages

It looks like a subtle bug.

Could you try setting the Source list to "At end of record on a new page" rather than "at end of Report", does this fix the paging?

Re: Publish/Books ... question on Free Text Pages

There is something odd, I built a new book and it works fine for me, but when I do it on a long older book it skips. I'll play some more.

Re: Multiple copies of Family Historian - caution!

I don't use One Drive so I don't know why it would not sync. With regard to the Program data folder. If having all your settings available you can use Mike's Backup and Restore FH Settings plugin, or use fhugdownloads:contents:windows_directory_junctions|> Utility ~ Windows Directory Junctions to re...

Re: Sorting by surname to include married names?

You might also want to check out the Search Any Name Plugin. As a plugin it can list everyone with all their names. So for example I am listed under both Jane Taubman and Jane Mullins. https://www.family-historian.co.uk/pluginstore/plugin-entry?id=34 You can leave the contains prompt blank to get ev...

Re: Find and Replace for in Source Notes

If might be helpful to go to the All tab for the source and open all the branches and post a screen shot for us, I suspect the "repeats" are actually in multiple notes or perhaps in the Text from Source field?

Re: Querying media linked to individuals

Queries will not be able to do this as they only return one line for the record type they are based on. so you will either have to add many columns incrementing the index as you go, up to the maximum number of images per person or write a plugin to create the result set you require. To get the file ...

There is a good discussion of Coroners Orders on Rootschat http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=353272.0 As Lorna says Newspapers are the place to search, if you get a death certificate it will show if an inquest was held for George. You might even find a "nice" report like this ...

Re: Font Sizes Lifespan and Divider lines

Mike, as far as I was aware Text boxes are saved with Custom Diagram Types, since V6 anyway. It's why you can create custom diagrams such as the ones in the Knowledge base based entirely on boxes. With dynamic trees they need moving around, but they are there.

Re: Font Sizes Lifespan and Divider lines

You can do all of the above, I 'll answer a couple 1. Most text schemes have a Font setting and then change the font using a font line. Set the font and remove or change the font line as wanted. 2018-08-03_152805.jpg 2. Add =lifedates() to the end of the expression for the Name line e.g %INDI.NAME:F...

As an aside if Adjer had been using V6, the automatic Snapshot option for Projects is often the easiest place to recover an earlier version. It's found on More Tasks button in the Project Window.

You would normally merge the smaller file into the larger one.

Does it ask for common people short answer yes, it will suggest them and you can match additional ones if needed.

Have you read through Knowledge Base > Merge/Compare File?

It's probably a problem with your Anti-Virus or some other monitoring program. One thing to try is working on your Project when in Safe Mode for Windows, or turning off the real time scanning for the Project data folders.

Re: Error on saving or backing up small gedcom

My understanding is that the protect folder option was turned on, this means it's up to the user to specify which programs other than operating system level ones can write to the folder. I use Windows defender and have no problems with FH and it's backups so I suspect that it's an option you need to...
