Surely most software allows one to view the full report without saving it in another format first?
You can see the full report, there is no need to save in another format. BTW In V7 the scrolling is changed to use a single scroll bar.

Re: Media rename

Have you looked on the media tab of the Records List, if you sort by Record ID your new record should show there with highest Record Id. You can use View>Record Links to see where it's linked to, and use Add Existing media to the location you wanted to add it to. Then unlink it from where it is wron...

Re: significant digits

Lua uses floating point numbers and as such does not use fixed decimals. If you want to display the number with fixed decimals you will need to output as a formatted string.

Re: Death Witness Role - Doctor

It seems to be a limitation of using another individual format code with in a single section.

Code: Select all

{individual} died <of {cause}> {date} <{address},>{_place} {age}.
< The attending doctor was {role(single)=doctor}.>
works OK as a work around.

Re: Transfer project folder to different drive

There are a couple of ways to do this If you only want to move Family Historian Projects, copy the folder from Documents to your preferred location and click on the blue link at the base of the Project Window to tell FH where to look. Another option is to move the whole Documents folder to the new l...

I have changed the knowledge base links to DarkBlue and turned off the bold.

The bold on the other items are entirely in the control of the editor of the page.

Also check you do not have a custom sentence field set for the individual fact, the quick place to check is the All tab.

There is an easier way, if you display the diagram, then select all the "living" boxes using the Set Marks with Query option and then right click on one of the boxes and set the Picture option to None.

Re: Note field Citations disallowed in 5.5.1

Bob, neither in normal operation. In the 5.5 spec you could also add sources to the notes. This could be done on any notes anywhere in FH, using the All tab. The 5.5.1 spec does not allow you to add sources to notes so you would need to add them to the item the note is attached to. In normal practic...

Re: Note field Citations disallowed in 5.5.1

If you are concerned about sourcing Notes in 5.5.1 for migration another method is to have a "Miscellaneous" custom events, as custom events are generally accepted by other programs. I do this and source the fact and have a sentence template of simply {note}, I can put a date in to keep it in a logi...

It's worth remembering that 5.5.1 still allows custom extensions. So they would not need to disable anything simply record it in a different way.

Re: Whole record source question

Personally I always source at the fact / field level when entering information, rather than at record level, as it gives you a better handle on where the information came from. The problem with only using Whole record, is later on as you become a better researcher you will be adding information from...

I think this only applies when adding new records. This controls if the citation is added to the Name field or the "Whole Record" , the latter can be seen in Family Historian by clicking the drop down on the Citation pane and selecting <Whole Record>, it's just a personal preference as to which to u...

As an admin on a Rootsweb list I only received that announcement yesterday, so I suspect Calico will need to think if it's worth creating a new list. As projects go that is still pretty small, it's worth remembering when using Dropbox it's generally doing updates via the internet connection, so you need to make sure it's finished sending up before you turn off your main machine. My question here is , I have a small pocket diary for 1942 which I would like to transcribe within FH and particularly the source itself - if I were to create a Note for each entry, (within Notes in the Source), what problems might I face later, when say, trying to reference a particular day somewh...

It's not possible to automatically suppress facts in reports across all, but you can, as you have discovered, exclude facts using the list and exclude for each report. For Narrative reports you can set the Sentence to {blank} to suppress them. In some reports the List is initially set for items to i...
