Re: lost projects

With out more details of what you did it's difficult to help.

Have you used Windows File Explorer to search for *.fh_proj it's possible you have accidentally moved the Family Historian Projects folder, so if you search you can see where there are projects on your hard disk.

Re: Parallel Family Historian and Ancestry trees

try using \\ rather than \ in the path.

You need to escape the backslashes, alternately forward slashes will probably work.

Re: Draft pages and Downloads in Knowledge Base

pushfile tends to get used where links were originally on the forerunner to the Wiki. From memory both Fetch and pushfile, set the http headers to prevent the problem with "helpful" web browsers displaying the content instead of downloading it, which happened a lot with query files.

It won't work on an Android or iPad, but you can use a companion program which can use the GEDCOM directly or be transferred to.

Re: Surname query

Queries by their nature always have one record per line (or one per fact for fact Queries), you need to use Plugin result sets if you want to combine multiple records.

Re: migration from v3 to v6: folder structure in projects

You have quite a few different options, you could simply create an "Unlinked" folder in your Project and copy them in there to keep them together, or simply drop all the files into the media window so they end up in the Media folder as part of your Project database.

I used your example on my PC and it returned

%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\

which failed as a location to store files. I assume your PC is returning a full path?

Ok, I 'll try and look at some point, I don't use OneDrive as I wouldn't trust Microsoft's Cloud with anything important.

It's not possible to directly include a query in a book, but you could export the information as a text file, tweek it a bit to remove the double quotes and add it back in as a Free Text page.

Re: Queries. Note fields?

You want

Code: Select all

%INDI.NOTE2[1]%

as the Data Reference tool states %INDI.NOTE[1]% is a link to a Note record and not a local note.
