Re: Expressions in Customize Data Entry?

One place you can customise on the Property Box is the title, which can take expressions, so if it's a small bit of information you can add it up there. The Property box is mainly designed for data entry and as such it only really allows fields which can be edited, with a couple of exceptions, which...

Don't forget the Witness box can be left open all the time, just as the Parent one can so you can hop around more easily.

Re: Individual census facts not included in report

Currently the Individual summary report does not include Witnesses, the Individual Narrative report does. For this reason currently many users prefer to have a fact for each person and use the Source to get the related records, but this assumes you are a method 1 recorder. I don't use GedSite, but I...

Re: Download FH on PC and laptop

I always recommend purchasing the download version and keeping safe with your backups a copy of the install program and a document with your licence number. That way you can always reinstall. One thing to remember is to uninstall the program from any older computer you are retiring to keep the insta...

The Family historian licence allows for installation on two computers as long as only you use them.

Not sure about CC.

Re: Twins

I only normally add to the first born (if I know it), but no harm in adding it twice, you might want to blank the witness sentence to avoid seeing the fact twice in narrative reports.

Above you will see a screen grab from the property box, two tabs and a + to add extra spouses.

Once you have more than one spouse clicking on the curved arrows on the right will re-order the spouses.

I use a custom fact called Twins and on one enter the twin as a witness. They then both get sentences in narrative reports and a marker in the Fact tab. I have attached the Fact Set

DNA Lists Helper

I have written a small plugin which can produce lists to help with MtDNA and Y Chromosome work (it checks and excludes Fostered and Adopted lines). You first select a root person and then pick from the 4 options. ⋅  Maternal Line - Simply lists the direct Female line ⋅  MtDNA - g...

Re: Female ancestors- is there a tool or plug-in to develop a tree?

I am currently working on a set of code snippets to return Female, Male direct lines and back tracing which take account of the relationship flags on the Family As Child records. When finished you will be able to get a result set to save as a Named list or set a flag to use in diagrams or for settin...

Re: Female ancestors- is there a tool or plug-in to develop a tree?

You can use a Query to hide the boxes so you don't need to do it manually. The attached query should handle 15 generations if you need more just duplicate the add exclude lines.

If you want markers on a full tree, the easiest way is probably to set a flag from the Query results.

Re: Up Down Arrows in Facts.

When viewing the Fact tab you are seeing events from the timeline, so they are simply inserted after any events which are local (blue or red dot events) to the record you are viewing. So grey dotted events with the same day will appear after those for the current record. You can move local events us...

Re: Recording DNA matches in Family Historian

You can make a Named List by highlighting the cells on a fact query or directly using save named records as Named list where the query is not a fact query, when the Add Row Records to a Named List will be active.
