Re: Setting Fact notes to null

If you add the note as a column on your query. You can simply select all the cells in the column and press the delete key.

Re: Can I produce a copy of a Descendent family tree?

Another useful tool, is the How Related Tool which you can select two people and ask FH to create a diagram showing how they relate to each other. This is great for sending to DNA matches once you have entered the line into your tree.

Like any diagram you have control of the text scheme used.

The Project files contain Project specific information as far as I am aware shared preferences are stored in Program Data and the registry.

What I do is use -- V6 Template local template = "Gens\. Up\=(%d+), Gens\. Down\=(%d+), Half\=(%d+), Spouse Start\=(%d+), Spouse End\=(%d+)" local code = fhCallBuiltInFunction('Relationship',pMain,pi,'CODE',i) local gensUp,gensDown,half,spouseStart,spouseEnd = string.match(code,template)

Re: Save chart -tree missing?

Mike, the reason I suggested it as a possible reason is if you use Windows explorer it won't automatically change the gedcom and sub folder names or the link to the gedcom in the .fh_proj file.

Re: Mater-Pater

As I said use RelationCode and check for Spouse Start as well, you can't use IsRelativeOf as it will return true for "In laws"

Re: Mater-Pater

Ron that code does not call the RelationCode Function. Once you have added the code for that and put in the check for the spouse start and you have explained exactly what you are not getting I will look at this again. I am not going to write the code for you.

Re: Marriage to Deceased Wife's Sister etc.

Object Orientation wasn't a problem - it's the, ahem, basic format with text concatenators and assignment operators v. comparison operators (==???!!!) and all the rest of that stuff - that's muscle memory if you've been down those languages but a pain if not. Tell me about it, some days I work in P...

Re: Mater-Pater

A fairly easy way to do this is to call the RelationCode function and do it on both parents to see which one is a direct line eg spouse_start flag is not set.

Re: Media order when gedcom imported

I'll give you a couple of pointers. To identify the item with the _PRIM tag once you have the obje item use a new pointer to check for the existence of the flag I would loop through the objects catch the first one to a pointer and then when you find the one with the marker move it above the first on...

Re: Media order when gedcom imported

_PRIM is a UDF field, but you could write a plugin to move the one with the _PRIM udf field to the top of the list.

Re: Getting the pointer to a _PLACE note

As I said you can't get a "link" to the Note as the note2 is local and and not a separate record.

Try the following

Code: Select all

local pNote = fhNewItemPtr()

pNote:MoveTo(pi,'~.NOTE2')

if pNote:IsNull() then
pNote = fhCreateItem('NOTE2', pi)
end

fhSetValueAsText(pNote, sNote)

Re: Marriage to Deceased Wife's Sister etc.

Adrian, I am not sure if you have tried writing plugins, but this sort of job is much easier with them as you can loop easily through all the siblings of each person.

Were you meaning strText =fhGetValueAsText(ptr) as NOTE2 is a local note there should be no link to another record.

Re: Updating FH on my laptop

As David says you are not restoring your Projects to your laptop. If you use the File>backup & restore>Restore option in Family Historian it will at least restore to the correct folder. If you delete the old Project copy first I believe it will install with the original name. Personally I would reco...

Re: where is the error?

Doing the following waits for notepad to shut

Code: Select all

os.execute("notepad.exe")
fhmessagebox("I am here")
If your editor is not waiting it's possible it's doing some sort of release.

Re: Can't open FH

There is nothing which Calico can do if it's a 3rd party program which is causing the error. If malware bytes is giving a false positive the best thing is to report it direct to them.

Everyone mentioned in any Family Historian report will be included in the Index. If you only want a list of people of whose ISR reports are included use the Table of Contents option of the Books.
