Lock Window (prevent re-use)

If you are currently viewing a diagram in a Diagram Window, and you choose an option to open another diagram, Family Historian may either (depending on your Preferences) re-use the existing Diagram Window or open another Diagram Window to show the diagram (there is no limit to the number of Diagram Windows you can have open at any one time). If you wish to make quite sure that a Diagram Window will not be re-used in this way, tick Lock Window. Locking a window only prevents the window being re-used. It does not prevent it being edited or closed, or anything else.

This option applies not just to the Diagram Window, but also to the Reports Window and the Multimedia Window. All of these windows can normally be re-used unless you click on Lock Window to prevent re-use.

Please note however that a Diagram Window can only be re-used to display a diagram, a Reports Window can only be re-used to display a report, and the Multimedia Window can only be re-used to display multimedia. If you choose a report (say) and there is no available Reports Window which can be re-used, a new Reports Window will be opened.

The Records and Query Windows can never be re-used so this option is not available for those windows. Also, the Diagram Window cannot be re-used if it is displaying a diagram that has been saved - in which case, again, the Lock Window option will not be available.
