Report Options Dialog: Contents Tab (Individual)

Fields

Sections The summary can consist of up to 6 different sections. Check all of the ones that you wish to appear in the report.
Main Sections Items (in order) Lists the items that should appear in the Main section of the report (if that is being displayed - see previous).

Use the Move Up/Move Down buttons near the top-right corner of the list, to change the order of the items, if you wish to do so. Double-click on any item (or select it and click on 'Edit') to change the settings for that item. Most items will only appear for a given Individual if that Individual has a value for that item. But for some items you can select "Show Even if Empty". In this case, a line will appear showing the label for that item, even if the record has no value for it.

If you wish not to see a particular item, whether or not there is a value for it, you should double-click on it, and select 'Hide'.

The ability to add items to this list, is a powerful feature which lets you customise reports in a very flexible way. For example, if you wished to see an Individual's grandfather shown in a report, you could click on the Add button, specify an appropriate label, and add the following as the expression:

%INDI.~FATH[1]>~FATH[1]>%

If you wanted to see the grandfather's life dates, you would use this instead:

%INDI.~FATH[1]>~FATH[1]>% (=LifeDates2(%INDI.~FATH[1]>~FATH[1]>%))

This should be added all on one line. Once you have added it this item, you can change its position in the list using the Move Up/Move Down buttons.

Ordinarily you would use the "<< Insert Data Ref…" button to help you generate the required expression.

Individual Events/ Attributes The events and attributes associated with each Individual are shown in a section of their own. If you are showing this section (see Sections above), you can choose whether you wish to see all of the person's events/attributes, or just a specific list; or you can see all of them except an excluded list. Double-click on the list itself, or click on 'Edit List' to change the contents of the list. Note that you can specify custom events/attributes as well as standard events/attributes.
Marriage Events/ Attributes (Spouses Section)

Marriage events/attributes are listed in the Spouses and Children sections, if this section is included in the Report (see Sections above).

You can choose whether you wish to see all of the marriage events/attributes, or just a specific list; or you can see all of them except an excluded list. Double-click on the list itself, or click on 'Edit List' to change the contents of the list. Note that you can specify custom events/attributes as well as standard events/attributes.

Show Dates with Names Show each person's life dates in brackets after their name. If birth and death dates are not known, baptism, christening and/or burial dates may be shown instead.
Inc. [[private]] Notes You can include private text in notes by enclosing it in double square brackets, like this: [[secret text]]. Ordinarily, private text does not print in reports, but if you want it to be included, check this option.
Remove [[ and ]] Only applicable if Inc. [[private]] Notes has been checked. If set, the double square brackets around private text is not displayed, even if the private text is displayed.
Show Event/Attr Instances If checked, labels for events and attributes will show a number (the instance) for each event or attribute that occurs more than once. For example, if you have 3 residence attributes, their instances will be shown as 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

Note that this option is not applicable to occurrences of labels for events and attributes in the “Additional Info” section, as these will always show the instance for events and attributes that occur more than once.

Inc. Event/Attr Notes Notes and other details associated with events and attributes are displayed in a sub-section, at the end of the Individual Events/Attributes section (if that section is being displayed). Likewise for Marriage Events/Attributes.
Inc. Event/Attr Addresses Addresses associated with events and attributes are displayed in a sub-section, at the end of the Individual Events/Attributes section (if that section is being displayed). Likewise for Marriage Events/Attributes.
Ages with events, if recorded If you have explicitly recorded a person's age at the time of an event or attribute, that age will be displayed.
or calculated Only applicable if Ages with events, if recorded is checked. If you haven't explicitly recorded a person's age at the time of an event or attribute, but it is possible to calculate it, the calculated age will be displayed.
