More Dimensions

Family Historian dimensions are given in your preferred units. You can choose between inches, centimetres, or millimetres. These are set in the Preferences dialog (accessible from the Tools menu).

Vertical Dimensions

Family Historian uses the Min Proximity Gap value to determine how close one box is allowed to get to another. It is the minimum gap that must be left below each box.

Other vertical dimensions are not described here as it is easier to see what they are used for by looking at the diagrams on the right hand side of the More Dimensions dialog.

Other Dimensions

Relationship description gap If you are showing relationship descriptions, this value specifies how big a gap there should be between the relationship descriptions and the rest of the diagram.
Stretchy line zigzag width and height Stretchy lines are only used to connect remarriage boxes (see Spouse Display Options in the General tab of the Diagram Options Dialog). You can use these settings to control the shape of these stretchy lines, if you use them.
Avoid boundaries gap You can choose to prevent boxes overlaying page boundaries by clicking on the Avoid Page Boundaries button on the Diagram Window toolbar. The gap specified here determines how close boxes are allowed to get to a page boundary in that case.
Gap between trees These settings are used to control how trees are spaced out when you generate an Everyone diagram.
