I find the data field in sources totally unnecesary. I come across it if adding Text from Source in the All tab for Individuals for instance. I appreciate this is included to keep 100% GEDCOM compatible, but you could still retain it in the file format, just don't show it on screen. So if I right click on Source, the drop down would include Add Text from Source and Add Entry Date but wouldn't include Add Data. If I were to examine the GEDOCM using word or a text editor then the DATA tag would be correctly used. |
