Knowledge Base: Home

Introduction

Welcome to the FHUG Knowledge Base, which we hope will grow into the ultimate resource for Family Historian, covering everything from simple how to's and getting started guides to research and recording suggestions.

Follow the menu on the left to the main sections to see what we have so far. There is already a selection of How To Guides for Family Historian and of course Nick Walker's Ancestral Sources, plus a comprehensive set of FHUG Downloads provided by members.

Following the release of Family Historian Version 5 the Knowledge Base now contains a whole new section on using Family Historian Plugins, which is well worth investigating as it contains lots of hints, tips, and sample code for developing Family Historian Plugins for Family Historian.

If what you are looking for is not obvious in the main sections, then try the Search box. Simply enter a few keywords from your topic, feature, or message into the box and click Search. Much the same options work as for a Google Search, such as prefixing a keyword with a minus sign will exclude it, and enclosing keywords in “quotes” will search just for that phrase.

How to help

Please contribute to this project, if every visitor, adds just one tiny section it will grow.

So if you come upon a topic which has not yet been written and you are able to provide some information on the subject please feel free to add or edit the information. The Knowledge Base is based on a system called a Wiki, which allows everyone to join in. The following documents explain a little more

Please refer to the Contributing Your Knowledge Contents for details of the suggested methods for adding information to the Knowledge Base.
