Census records are national collections of population statistics. They usually record details about members of a household on a particular date, and are typically collected every ten years.
For family historians researching ancestors in the UK, the most useful Census records are those publicly available for each decade from 1841 to 1911. Later records will become available on their 100th anniversary.
