I'm just starting out with FH6 and AS so apologies if this is an amateur mistake, but I can't figure out how to fix this.
I used AS to add my birth certificate. Before I did this, in FH6, there was a fact under my dad which said "Birth of son William" and so forth. After adding my birth certificate in AS, the fact now only says "Birth". I'm worried that as I add more facts/events, they will all be reduced to generic "birth" or "marriage" making it hard to read or select the proper fact.
How can I fix this so it says something more than the generic "birth"?

Re: Problem adding birth certificate.
In the example above you can see 3 sorts of dots.
1. Blue dot Individual fact belonging to the selected person
2. Grey dot Timeline Fact belonging to a member of the Family (these can be shown and hidden using the Time Line toggle Icon (4)
3. Red dot Family Fact, mostly used for Marriages and Divorces
So Birth with a blue dot is the Fact for the birth of the selected person, if it is a time line fact it's possible you have accidentally added another person with no name try double clicking on the fact where does it take you?

Re: Problem adding birth certificate.
Thanks. I was wondering what those dots meant. Anyways, there is no dot now, its been changed to a blue arrow.
When I double click the fact (in my father's list) it takes me to my own record, changing the program focus from dads record to mine.
Selecting the fact (single click) shows the citation details in the pane below, but I can't edit the title "birth".

Re: Problem adding birth certificate.
What you have done when using AS to enter the Birth Certificate is use the Registration tab to add your Father as the Informant.
This uses the Fact Witness feature of FH V6 and gives the blue arrow for the Fact entry.
The Witness is actually recorded against the Birth Event and until the Witness Role is defined will just say Birth against the blue arrow. Right-click and choose Witnesses to see them.
See ancestralsources:family_historian_birth_death_informant_witness_role|> Family Historian Birth & Death Informant Witness Role for further details and how to define the Informant Role.
BTW: As a newcomer I advise you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and follow all its links for further details. All too often users are in a hurry to enter data and wish they had spent more time understanding the features. See the Family Historian Sample Project for examples.

Thanks for your help!
Read a lot already, I'll read more. It's A LOT of detail to take in. I knew it was some nuance I wasn't catching. I read about the new witness support in the release notes, it's just I don't have the context to understand it. Your explanation helps a bunch. Thanks!

Re: Problem adding birth certificate.
Deleting Dad as a Witness restored the fact to "Birth of son William". Perfect! Thanks!
