A question that may belong in the Wish List category, but with the new UI in v6, I’m hoping this might just be a configuration option I haven’t found yet.
When viewing Facts in the Property Window, the More column shows nice icons for facts that have media, as well as notes. It seems that a logical extension to that would be an icon to indicate that there’s a source associated with the event. I’d really like to have an at-a-glance view of what facts I have supporting evidence for. Already Possible? Wish List? Different Solution?
Thanks,
Steve

Re: more in the property window More column?
Yes Steve, others have been interested in that even before FH V6 added Media icons, which depending on the Show Media button settings may include Citation Media and Source Record Media as well as Fact Media.
A custom workaround adds symbols to each Fact to signal whether it has a Source Citation or not.
See how_to:understanding_expressions|> Understanding Expressions under Override Templates for the customisation details, and links to the Related Forum postings.
The expression for just a Source Record signal would be:
{=TextIf( Exists(%FACT.SOUR>%),"*","- " )} {abbr} {value} {place}
Unfortunately, it must be tediously added to every Fact via Tools > Fact Types > Edit > Advanced > Fact Definition.
See also Wish List item Ref 533 Sources For: display of all Citations that offers another way of reviewing all Source Citations at a glance, bearing in mind that they can be added to more than just Facts, i.e. Whole record, Name fields, Note fields, Place fields, Witnesses, etc.

Thanks for the reply Mike,
I want to pause on the first statement that you made, as while it's not perfectly what I want, as you pointed out, the custom expressions for each fact type would be a time-consuming effort.

If I went the ambitious route to do the fact definition custom expression it looks like that would put an '*' on the facts tab - would that be in the More column as well?

Are you describing that if I'm looking at the Facts tab and the Birth fact has a source with media attached (a birth certificate) it's possible to have the Media icon display? Where am I missing this setting?...FH V6 added Media icons, which depending on the Show Media button settings may include Citation Media and Source Record Media as well as Fact Media.

Yes, regarding the Media icons, click the Show Media button and there are options to Include Citation Media and Include Source Record Media that are remembered indefinitely.
If you go the Fact Definition route, then the "*" and "- " (or whatever symbols you choose) appear on the left of the Fact column prior to the Fact Abbreviation {abbr}.
See illustration in Re: Sources, Citations and Methods.

Thanks.
The custom flags are certainly interesting to me the more I think about it. Given that I have trees that I'm researching with very...mixed sourcing, I'm certainly seeing the possibilities of adding both a flag for if a source image exists, as well as simply if a source of any kind exists as being beneficial for a quick at-a-glance overview of where I'm at with any particular individual.
